Atthetimesheenteredthe program,Sarahwasworkinglowwagecashierandshift-basedjobs thatofferedlittleopportunityfor advancementandlimitedtimewith herchild.Throughcoaching focusedonprofessional presentation,workplace communication,andinterview preparation,shegainedthe confidenceandskillsneededto pursueanewcareerpath.
WithsupportfromProsperitystaff andemployerconnectionsmade throughtheprogram,Sarah securedherfirstprofessionaloffice positionwithalocalagency.The roleprovidesconsistenthours, greaterstability,andawork environmentthatsupportsbothher careergrowthandfamilylife
In2025,RaysofHopesupporteda youngstudentgrievingthelossof hisfatherafteralongillness. Followingtheloss,hebecame withdrawn,struggledinschool,and oftenexpressedangerand confusionhedidnotknowhowto process.ThroughtheHopeWorks griefsupportprogram,he participatedinweeklysessions focusedonpeerconnection, emotionalexpression,andhealthy copingskills.Overtime,hebegan openingupandrealizedhewasnot aloneinhisgrief.
Hismotheralsoparticipatedin caregiversupportsessions,where shegainedtoolstohelpherson whilenavigatingherownloss.By theendoftheprogram,histeacher reportedhewasmoreengagedin classandinteractingpositivelywith classmatesagain.Hismother sharedthattheirhome environmentimprovedbecause theynowhadhealthywaystotalk openlyaboutgrieftogether
In2025alone,523children participatedinRaysofHope programming,and95.6%metkey emotionalandbehavioral milestones.

Family Support Program

JaidenhasbeenenrolledinSHARE forthepastsevenyears.Diagnosed withLevel3autismatagethree,he wasinitiallynonverbalandfaced significantdevelopmental challengesHisearlyyearsincluded seizures,sensoryoverwhelm,and difficultyparticipatingineveryday activities,makingevensimple outingschallengingforbothJaiden andhismother,Stephanie.
ThroughSHARE,Jaidenandhis familyfoundasupportive communityandinclusive opportunitiesdesignedforchildren withspecialneedsProgramssuch asfamilyevents,respitecare,and parentsupporthelpedJaidenbuild confidence,strengthensocialskills, andexperienceasenseof belongingwithinacaringand encouragingenvironment.

UnitedWayofMidlandproudlyhostedthe2026ExcellenceinEducation AwardsCeremony.Throughthispartnership,$91,500wasawardedin recognitionof103exceptionalcampusteachersanddedicated“unsung heroes”whoconsistentlygoaboveandbeyondintheirclassroomsand acrosstheircampusesThiscelebrationwasmadepossiblethroughthe generoussupportoflocalfoundationsandbusinesspartners.

InNovember,UnitedWayofMidlandleditsannual“WeekofCaring”FoodDrive, mobilizingcommunitymemberstocontributenon-perishablefooditemsat multipledrop-offlocationsthroughoutMidlandInaddition,severallocal businessesjoinedtheeffort,hostingtheirowncollectionevents.
Asaresult,morethan3,200poundsofnon-perishablefooditemswerecollected anddistributedtoeightlocalfoodpantries,helpingensurethatfamiliesacrossour communityhaveaccesstoessentialresourcesThisinitiativedemonstratesthe powerofcommunity,compassion,andcollectiveaction

The2025ExecutiveDirectorTrainingSeriesprovidednonprofitleaderswith practicaltoolsandstrategiestostrengthentheirorganizationsandleadership capacity.Sessionsfocusedonkeyareasincluding:employeeengagementand retentioninresource-limitedenvironments,effectivegrantwritingforlocal, state,andfederalfundingopportunities,andessentialhumanresources practicessuchaspolicies,procedures,andemployeeaccommodations
Theseriesalsoexploredleadershipdevelopment,helpingparticipantsbetter understandandapplydifferentleadershipstylestobecomemoreeffectivein theirroles.Eachsessionincludeddedicatedtimeforexecutivedirectorsto engageindeeperdiscussion,fosteringpeerlearningandcollaboration.
OnOctober9th,morethan80attendeesrepresentingover50agencies gatheredatMidlandCollegeforConnectingforImpact,acollaborative eventsponsoredby2-1-1PermianBasin,FirstBaptistMissionsMinistry, TheHenryFoundation,andUnitedWayofMidland
Theeventhighlightedthestrengthofcommunitypartnershipsandthe valueofcross-sectorcollaborationPost-eventfeedbackreflectedstrong engagement,with93%ofparticipantsreportingtheylearnedaboutnew organizationsorresources,and81%indicatingtheywouldattendagain UnitedWayextendsitsgratitudetoallpartnersandparticipantsfor helpingstrengthenamoreconnectedandcollaborativecommunity.




InAugust2025,UnitedWayofMidlandproudlycompletedacapitalexpansion,adding3,000squarefeettoourexisting facility.Thisnewadditionhousesourstate-of-the-arttrainingandconferencecenter,availablefreeofchargetolocalnonprofitsThisexpandedspacewillgreatlyenhanceourabilitytosupportandcollaboratewithcommunitypartnersbyproviding adedicatedvenueforworkshops,meetings,andeventsaimedatstrengtheningouroutreachefforts.

Thisprojectwasmadepossiblethroughthegenerosityofmanydedicatedsupporters,includingatransformationalestategift fromtheCharlesMoffettEstate.TheirinvestmentinUnitedWay’smissionwillcreatelastingopportunitiesforconnection, education,andcommunityimpactforyearstocome.
