Cardiff Met Conferences Keeping you in the Know Health, Well Being and Medical Events Cardiff Metropolitan University were pleased to be selected to host the “All Wales Healthy Universities and Colleges Network Meeting” in the School of Management building on 24th January 2018. The Conference Team worked closely with Public Health Wales to ensure a successful event which received great feedback from the organiser and the delegates. Cardiff Met Conferences has a long standing relationship with both Public Health Wales and Public Health England hiring out facilities and hosting a number of events each year.

Over the last 12 months Cardiff Met Conferences have welcomed in excess of 1,200 medical professionals to the university at weekends, attending exhibitions and lectures hosted by MediConf UK. As with all conference events hosted on campus one of the conference team attends in order to meet and greet organisers, exhibitors and delegates and to assist in ensuring all aspects of the event run smoothly.

“The Conference Team are always a pleasure to work with, very helpful and professional.”

“Just to say a massive thank you, to you and your staff for the excellent pre and ‘on the day’ organisation of the event. Student Work Placement

This Spring we’ve welcomed a new member to the Conference Team. Amber, a second year marketing student at Cardiff Met, has joined the team to gain experience in a working environment. As part of her role, Amber has been assisting in social media activities, digital campaigns and marketing projects. We asked Amber a few questions about her time here and this is what she had to say; 1. What sort of projects have you been involved in during your work experience? I have been given a variety of tasks, which meant the work has been interesting and diverse. My main tasks were putting together promotional content on social media through Hootsuite and assisting the conference team at events.

2. What have you learnt during your time? I have learnt a number of new things, such as how to use Hootsuite and how social media can help build and maintain customer relationships, which has been helpful in writing a recent assignment at university.

3. What has been the most interesting task you’ve been given or has anything been a surprise? I really enjoyed putting together a marketing campaign promoting the summer accommodation to post on social media. It surprised me at first how time consuming composing each post and tweet was, however the more practice I had the quicker it became.

4. Has the role given you any ideas about what kind of business areas you’d like to work in? My experience here has definitely confirmed that I made the right choice in choosing marketing for a career, however it has made me consider working for smaller companies in the future and not just large multinational companies. For further insight into Amber’s work placement, you can read her blog here.

Business Shows & Exhibitions “This year we’ve been out and about attending a number of regional exhibitions including the Southern Wales Group Buyer Showcase which took place at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff. We attended the Swansea Business Show in October and will be exhibiting at the Welsh Business Show in Cardiff on 26th April and at the Business Showcase South West in Bristol on the 16th May. The Welsh Business Show and the Business Showcase South West will be great opportunities to network with other businesses in the area. There’s some great workshops lined up such as ‘Complying with the new GDPR laws’ and you can also take part in their speed networking events.“ To register your attendance for the Welsh Business Show visit: www.twbs.wales/the-shows/cardiff-2018/ or to register for the Business Showcase South West go to: www.businessshowcasesouthwest.com/ Come along to one of the shows and have a chat with us about your event requirements.
