he University of West Alabama Receives Megan Montgomery oundation Grant to Continue Comprehensive Sexual Assault revention Program
heUniversityofWestAlabama(UWA)isthrilledtoannounce hereceiptoftheMeganMontgomeryFoundationGrant, otaling$10,000.ThisgenerousgrantwillfundTigerP.A.W. Prevention,Awareness,Well-Being),acomprehensivesexual ssaultpreventionprogram.Theprogram,initiatedbythe OfficeofDeanofStudents,aimstoeducateandempowerthe UWAcommunityinpreventingsexualviolence.
Withalarmingstatisticssurroundingcampussexualviolence,theneedforeffectiveprevention strategieshasneverbeenmorecritical.TheTigerP.A.W.programwillplayacrucialrolein educatingtheUWAfamilyonhowtobecomeactivelyengagedinpreventingsexualassault. InJanuary,severalstaffmembershostedprogramsfocusedontheNewYearandnewsemesterand planningforsuccess.SeldenRAsprovidedmocktailsandtreatswhileresidentswrotealetterwith theirintentionsfortheNewYearandthissemester.TheRAscollectedthem,andthenpassedthem outrightbeforefinalexamsattheendofApriltohelpthemseehowfarthey’vecome,whatthey accomplished,andmore.
Februarybroughtabouttrivianights–Valentine’sTrivia,BlackHistoryTrivia,UWATrivia,andmore. Inaddition,GilbertstaffcelebratedMardiGraswithaMasks,Beads,&TipsYouNeedtobring awarenesstobingedrinking.SeldenresidentsenjoyedMardiGrasanddiscussedsafetywitha MaskedPartyMannersprogram,givingresidentsthechancetopainttheirownMardiGrasmasks. Reed,Patterson,andSeldenhostedamulti-hallevent,RPSWars, toencourageupperclassstudent engagementinMarch,whileGilbertRAspairedwithUWACampusPoliceforWatchYourBooze.
