Landscape

Spring brings with it the theme of rebirth and renewal. As the seasons change, and we transition from a snow-covered winter landscape towards a brighter, greener future, I can’t help but make comparisons to various happenings in and around our campus.

As many of you know, this term will be my last serving as Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The past 12 years have been memorable and challenging in many ways, and I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve this institution.

As we move into the year together, one thing that will not change is our fundamental mission to o er students a high-quality and a ordable educational experience—one that launches exceptional opportunities and careers, like those that you will read about in this issue.

This is what makes UW-Platteville “A Smart Investment.” I have always believed this to be true about the UW-Platteville institutional identity, but you don’t need to take my word for it. The numbers are clear—90% job placement, above average starting salary, commitment to a ordability, and a student-centered approach all make UW-Platteville a viable choice for students of today and tomorrow.

It is my hope that, with your help, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will continue to foster the type of institutional approach that will cultivate a brighter future for our students, sta , alumni, and communities, at large.

It is a Great Day to be a Pioneer!

Sincerely,

Dennis J. Shields Chancellor, UW-Platteville “These past 12 years have been memorable and challenging in many ways, and I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to serve this institution.”
