Theodore E. Keats Endowed Lecture We are excited to have Dr. Alan H. Matsumoto as our 2024 Theodore E. Keats Distinguished Endowed Lecturer. Dr. Matsumoto received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi Honor Societies. After receiving his medical degree in 1980 from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University and being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Dr. Matsumoto completed residencies in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts and diagnostic radiology at the University of North Carolina. He also had additional fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at Georgetown University. Dr. Matsumoto was awarded the Gold Medal by the Association of Vascular and Interventional Radiographers in 2012 and Society of Interventional Radiology in 2019. He has pioneered many novel and innovative, minimally invasive, image-guided procedures during his 30+ years at the University of Virginia (UVA) and has published more than 300 articles and book chapters, given more than 250 invited presentations and has helped to train more than 375 residents and fellows. On January 2, 2024, Dr. Matsumoto stepped down as Chair of the UVA Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging, a position he held for the last 15 years. He will continue to work clinically in the department and serve as the Director of the UVA Focused Ultrasound Center, while also assuming a national leadership role as Chair of the Board of Chancellors of the American College of Radiology on April 17, 2024.

Welcome Reception There truly is no better way for us to say ‘Welcome Back to Charlottesville!’ Greet old friends and make new ones at this laid-back welcome reception, hosted by Patt Keats, wife of the late Dr. Theodore Keats. Patt’s gracious welcome of the Keats Society to her home has become a favorite Homecoming tradition. Take in the sunset over the Blue Ridge from the patio, porches and gardens, delight in the excellent company and nosh and sip to your heart’s content.

Riddervold Open A long-standing tradition, we’re pleased to once again host the Riddervold Open Golf Tournament during our Homecoming weekend. In 2024, the tournament moves to Old Trail Golf Club surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, Virginia. If you’d like to play as part of a team, ask all players to register for the event and send an email to Tynelle.Addison@virginia.edu with the names of your preferred teammates. Tee times start at 8:0am. Well have a tasty hot breakfast available to all golfers on-site starting at 7:30am.

Family and Pup Day Hike

Led by UVA Radiology faculty members, this gentle, dog-friendly hike is suitable for children of all ages. We’ll meet at Mint Springs Valley Park in Crozet, which includes 520 acres of trails ranging from easy to strenuous, playgrounds, picnics as well as scenic lake views. We’ll explore one of Albemarle county’s beautiful scenic parks while enjoying snacks and good company. After the hike, you can head over the Family Day cookout (with more outdoor fun) right across the street at AJ and Allie Pesch’s home. Page 9

Family Day Cookout After you’ve worked up an appetite from hiking or golfing, swing over to AJ and Allie Pesch’s house for a lunch the whole family can enjoy. You can refuel with BBQ, coleslaw and more — including vegetarian options, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This afternoon will be the perfect chance to reconnect with old friends and mentors. While your kids enjoy face painting and lawn games, you can reminisce and enjoy the beauty of Crozet — and maybe a game or two of cornhole. When you register for the Family Day Cookout, be sure to note how many children you’ll be bringing along. And dogs are welcome!

Homecoming Banquet The centerpiece of Homecoming Weekend, this year’s banquet will be held at The Quirk Hotel, Charlottesville’s first boutique art hotel. The evening begins on The Quirk’s gorgeous rooftop with cocktails and extraordinary views of Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Then we’ll head down to the stylish Primrose

Ballroom for a delicious three-course, locally sourced dinner inspired by the bounty and flavors of Virginia. In between sips and bites, we’ll hear from ”Cat’s Curfew” - a local band including many radiology employees (they are really good)! Followed by some gifting and a few speakers. Don’t forget to stroll through the current art exhibition on view at the Quirk Gallery. Or grab a drink after dinner at the grand Lobby Bar, our favorite place to cap off an evening in downtown Charlottesville. 499 West Main Street, Charlottesville
