In accordance with the Executive Order 77, UVA Dine will be transitioning many single-use plastics to compostable and reusable options and water bottles to aluminum. Expect to see more opportunities to reduce your usage of single-use plastics! Be on the lookout for compostable cups and food containers, and be sure to drop them off in the green compost bins around Grounds.

By using a reusable to-go container, you can take your meal to-go whenever you want while avoiding unnecessary landfill waste. Ask any cashier to learn more about the program and how to get started!

DID YOU KNOW? UVA DINING PARTNERS WITH UVA RECYCLING TO RECYCLE PLASTIC, GLASS, CARDBOARD, AND ALUMINUM FROM ALL DINING LOCATIONS.

HOW WILL YOU: 1. REDUCE__________________ 2. REUSE___________________ 3. RECYCLE_________________ 11

WHY COMPOST?

Composting diverts food and products from the landfill that can be turned back into nutrient-rich soil. It is as simple as sorting what’s left on your plate into landfill, recyclable, and compostable. Eventually, it will become a habit and you will be a lifelong contributor to healthy soil and a healthy planet.

WHERE?

look before you toss!

UVA Dine composts in all 3 dining halls. UVA Dining staff track waste in residential locations and compost all food waste from food preparation (pre-consumer) and food dispoal (post-consumer). Compost bins are also located in Fine Arts Café, The Castle, and West Range Café, as well as occasional outdoor compost bins at the tents and Ampitheater. Look for signage that shows what is compostable so we can avoid contamination!
