Thetitle,translatesto“forthegloryofadoringyou”andinthisparticularsceneintheoperaErnestosings thisariaindedicationtohisbelovedAlmirena,anddetailshisdeeploveforhereveniftheycannotbe together,thatlovewillpersist.

Thenextthreeselectionsaretheworkofabrotherandsister,FelixandFannyMendelssohn.Fannywas theolderofthetwo,butbothwerebroughtupwithaccesstoexceptionalmusiceducation.Bothalsowent ontobecomerenownedcomposersandtalentedperformers.Thefirstpieceentitled“Erwin”was composedbyFanny,publishedin1847,itwasalsoapointofcontentionforafemalemusiciantohave publishedworks,soherfamilydidhavesomeapprehensioninherpublications,butsheeventually publishedover450compositions,someevenpublishedunderthenameofherbrotherFelix.Shehada varietyofdifferentstylesunderherbeltincludingstringquartet,pianotrio,orchestraloverture,four cantatas,onehundredandtwentyfivepiecesforsolopiano,andovertwohundredandfiftylieder.Felix Mendelssohnisthecomposerof“Abendlied”and“Minnelied”.Felixwaswellknownforhisworkas pianist,conductorandcomposer.HewasanotablepersonofinterestintherevivalofBach’smusicafter hisconductingoftheSt.MatthewPassionin1829.Likehissisterhealsohadawidearrayofstylesunder hisbelt,andisnowconsideredtobeoneofthemostpopularcomposersoftheromanticera.

Howeverthe12tonadillasareregardedasGranadosmostimportantvocalwork.Eachofthe12 piecesinthelargerworktellsastoryaboutlove,thecompositionalsotookinspirationfrom scenesintheroyaltapestriesofMadridbySpanishpainterFranciscodeGoya.
