Today, we stand at a historic inflection point— an unparalleled moment in time to have a profound impact on where San Antonio, the seventh-largest city in the United States, goes as a community.
We are combining two superb institutions to form a model public research university right here in San Antonio—one that is nimble, creative and unlike any other in Texas or the nation.
This combination is powerful and unique: a large academic university with a substantial research enterprise and a nationally ranked, research-intensive academic health center with deep impact here in South Texas and beyond. Together, we have brilliant minds, scientific breakthroughs, clinical trials, and incredible opportunities that distinguish us among our counterparts across the country.
Our strength lies in how we bring people together—scientists and clinicians, technologists and community advocates, employees and learners of all kinds—to redefine how education, research and care intersect.
This is what will make us more transformative than any other university in the United States. Together, we're going to reimagine our institution, expanding our impact in ways that redefine what a public university can do—for our state, our nation and the world.

Texas at San Antonio
A combination to power every ambition
The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and UTSA have officially joined as one: UT San Antonio.
This historic integration brings together the innovation of a top-tier research university and the expertise of a world-class academic health center to form the third-largest research university in Texas.
Driven by a shared spirit of service, opportunity and applied research, UT San Antonio stands at the forefront of a new era in higher education.
Working together, we're applying artificial intelligence (AI) to society's biggest challenges in medicine, cybersecurity and public health. We’re expanding research and discovery in brain health and accelerating breakthroughs in cancer treatment. And we're developing new models of interdisciplinary learning, including the nation's first dual-degree in medicine and AI, that empower students to move between disciplines— and move the world forward.
Because for us, education is far more than the transmission of knowledge. It is the greatest health initiative of all time, and it creates an enduring impact on social mobility, societal progress, and community well-being. That's why we prepare students to lead at the intersection of health and technology,
advance research that translates to real-world care and expand public health education to make lives better for generations to come. Our work may begin in a classroom or a lab—but it lives in the community.
We serve a city at the crossroads of culture, creativity and innovation— a place uniquely positioned to build what’s next for Texas and beyond. We’re shaped to meet that future with purpose. Our graduates stay here, work here and thrive here— many of them in critical fields like healthcare, cybersecurity, bioscience and public service. From the Riverwalk to the research lab, UT San Antonio is fueling economic opportunity, expanding educational access and creating care delivered for Texans into the standard for everyone.
This is higher education with momentum. Research with purpose.
Growth with impact.
Ambition with a place. And it’s here.

Modeling the future of medicine
Better community health outcomes start at the intersection of technology and humanity.
That’s why we’re transforming how healthcare is delivered and taught by using artificial intelligence to improve care and education. We've established the nation's first dual‑ degree program in medicine and AI, designed to prepare students for the next generation of healthcare advances by providing comprehensive training in applied artificial intelligence. By integrating advanced AI technologies into both classrooms and care environments, we’re helping define how healthcare will be practiced well into the future.
Training for tomorrow’s most impactful careers
We’re applying high-impact, emerging technologies to solve complex problems, expand educational and economic opportunity and drive innovation across industries.
We’ve established Texas’ first College of AI, Cyber and Computing to turn cutting-edge research into real-world results across defense, healthcare, energy and beyond. As a key player in advancing the Texas Cyber Command—a new state agency dedicated to protecting Texas from cyberattacks—we’re helping shape the future of cybersecurity and digital defense on a statewide and national scale. Together, we’re pioneering a new kind of AI-focused education that blends different fields of study to prepare students for the growing number of careers that depend on artificial intelligence.
