CHARLES ALAN WRIGHT FIELDS AT THE BERRY M. WHITAKER SPORTS COMPLEX

PROJECT SCOPE

Major renovation of a large, multi-use facility that was originally constructed in the mid-1960s and fully renovated in 1980-81. The scope of the 2016 renovation included replacing a portion of the natural grass with artificial turf, replacing the remaining natural grass with new turf, installing a new Gateway Building, refurbishing the existing Control Building and replacing all electrical and irrigation systems.

• Turf: Tifway 419 hybrid Bermuda, grown over a six-inch base of sand, top soil and peat moss

• Multipurpose turf area accommodates up to 12 recreational football/soccer fields or 8 softball diamonds; all-purpose/all-weather field.

• Lighting: Musco Light Structure Green metal halide field lighting on 100-foot poles (minimum 50 foot candles)
