The Canfield Business Honors Program (Canfield BHP) is a prestigious and selective program offering a specialized curriculum modeled after case-based programs — it challenges students to think creatively. Small class sizes allow for increased focus on discussion, presentation, group collaboration and analytic exercises. Canfield BHP is more than just a top-rate education — it’s a community. Special programming coordinated by Canfield BHP staff and the Honors Business Association (HBA) provides unique opportunities for students from all graduating classes to form strong, lasting relationships with one another.

CAREER MANAGEMENT

Texas McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations guides students through all phases of their career development. Canfield BHP students have dedicated career coaches who will be their resource for career exploration, internship and full-time job searches, and interview preparation. Canfield BHP students also have access to company coffee chats, career events and specialized programming that will help them choose the right career for them and give them the skills needed to ace their interview.

BUSINESS CLASSES IN YOUR FIRST SEMESTER

FLEXIBLE DUAL-DEGREE PLANS

Canfield BHP students learn to tackle business challenges head-on in the areas that excite them most. With flexible degree plans, students can explore their interests while gaining the skills required of tomorrow’s business leaders. Our highly regarded joint programs allow Canfield BHP graduates to pursue any career they want.

+ Plan II

For students with diverse interests who would like to add rigorous liberal arts and science classes. This combination strengthens critical and analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and writing skills. A capstone thesis is required for Plan II students.

+ Computer Science and Business (Texas CSB)

For students who are savvy in both business and technology. This integrated dual-degree program streamlines computer science and business curriculums so you can complete both majors in less time. Students in Texas CSB often work in product management, start-ups, and quantitative finance.

+ Electrical and Computer Engineering (Texas ECB)

For students aspiring to be electrical and computing engineers and entrepreneurs. The Honors Electrical and Computer Engineering and Business (Texas ECB) degree provides hands-on and project-based learning. At Texas ECB, students learn the leadership skills required to lead engineering companies into the future and prepare them to find solutions to the global challenges facing our society.

EXPAND YOUR WORLD – STUDY ABROAD

Texas McCombs has robust study abroad opportunities, with more than 20 programs to choose from. Canfield BHP students have the option to participate in a specially designed program in Copenhagen, where they can earn credit for a Canfield BHP management course. Studying abroad allows you to earn credit for business courses, experience other cultures, build your résumé to become more attractive to employers, and develop foreign language skills. All Canfield BHP students are strongly encouraged to study abroad during their time in the program.

Semester Programs offer fall, spring, yearlong and summer opportunities to study abroad. Don’t miss the chance to learn, travel, and form international relationships at one of our 31 partner universities across the globe.

SUMMER FACULTY-LED PROGRAMS

The McCombs School of Business proudly offers international faculty-led summer study abroad opportunities. During the BBA Summer FacultyLed Programs, one of our top-ranked professors will accompany you while you receive a McCombs education and explore a new environment.

WHAT’S NEXT?

ADMISSIONS

Apply to The University of Texas at Austin and Canfield BHP online using the ApplyTexas Application or the Common Application. Students must list “Unspecified Business” as their first-choice major and select an interest in honors in order to be considered. If you are applying to Texas CSB or Texas ECB, visit our admissions website for more application details.

TEXAS EXES FORTY ACRES SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Canfield BHP has a limited number of merit-based scholarships available for incoming freshmen. All applicants will be automatically considered for these scholarships. Even if you don’t think you will qualify for need-based aid, it’s a good idea to apply for all types of aid by completing the FAFSA.

The Texas Exes also offer a number of scholarships, including the Forty Acres Scholarship, a full-ride scholarship for top incoming freshmen. You must apply using their application system to be considered for a Texas Exes scholarship. The Forty Acres Scholars Program inspires and nurtures visionary leaders and helps them use their talents to benefit society.

Scholars demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a track record of outstanding academic success. Most importantly, they have passion and a desire to live out the core values of The University of Texas at Austin.
