AN ALPINE TRAIL ROOTED IN MOUNTAIN VALUES
The Trail Verbier St-Bernard was born in 2008 from a challenge between friends who shared a passion for trail running and the mountains. Aware of the exceptional potential of the region’s hiking trails and the richness of its alpine environment, they were driven by a common goal: to enhance the summer appeal of this unique territory.
The first edition, held in 2009, welcomed 500 runners to the start line. Year after year, the event continued to grow, eventually joining the UTMB World Series in 2021, marking an important milestone in its international development.
Today, four iconic race courses showcase the diversity of the Valais alpine landscapes as well as the authenticity of the villages of the Entremont valley. The Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB is now regularly cited among the most beautiful trail races in the world, helping to shine a spotlight on Valais far beyond its borders.
From July 10 to 12, more than 6,000 runners will take part in one of the event’s courses. Until then, we wish you the very best in your preparation and look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful region.
HAVE A GREAT RACE, EVERYONE!

Charity bibs, offered at a higher registration fee, are available for each race. This initiative is part of UTMB Cares, a global charitable program and endowment fund that brings together trail running communities around shared values while supporting local social and environmental causes in the regions hosting UTMB World Series events.
As part of this commitment, the Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB is offering 60 charity bibs across its four races. Funds raised through this program will be donated to two partner organizations:
ImAGIne is a community-based association rooted in the Val de Bagnes. It was founded from a desire to reconnect people and help re-enchant our world by taking action towards a balanced and resilient valley, in harmony with nature and all living things.

YOUR TRAIL RUNNING PASSPORT
The UTMB Index measures a runner’s performance across four race categories: 20K, 50K, 100K, and 100M , as well as an overall score.
IT’S ESSENTIAL FOR:
Entering the UTMB World Series Finals lottery (with at least 1 Running Stone).
Defining your start wave to ensure the best race experience.
Exclusive Race Access:
You benefit from a 48-hour priority registration to UTMB World Series Events. And for some 100K and 100M events require a valid UTMB Index for safety or lottery pre-registration.
HOW IT WORKS:
Your UTMB Index is based on your top 5 race results (weighted for recency and performance) over the last 36 months. At least 1 valid race result in the past 24 months is required for a valid UTMB Index.
With over 6,000 races worldwide they are plenty of opportunities to boost your UTMB Index.

ENVIRONMENT
Let’s be honest, the Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB is lucky to take place in an incredible environment, inhabited by wonderful people! That’s why we are deeply committed to preserving it.
Here are some concrete examples of the actions implemented:
• Nearly 37% of the food and 94% of the drinks served at aid stations come from Switzerland.
• 40% of the food is organic.
• A large portion of the drinks is made on site.
• To reduce waste, reusable dishware is used throughout the event.
• Each runner carries their own utensils to eat and drink along the course.
• A comprehensive waste sorting system is set up at the aid stations.
• An increasingly extensive bus service is available for runners and their companions.
• Noise impact in villages is reduced by limiting the duration of musical entertainment.
Since the very beginning of the Trail Verbier St-Bernard, environmental protection has been one of the race organization’s top priorities. The many initiatives implemented over the years are detailed in the event’s Eventkit profile, which can be accessed via the Eventkit platform.
This platform also allows us to benchmark our event against other comparable races and continuously assess our environmental performance.
THE TRAIL VERBIER ST-BERNARD ASSOCIATION IS COMMITTED TO DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO:
•Preserve the trails and keep them clean.
•Limit waste production.
•Encourage the use of public transportation.
•Minimize impacts on the villages and natural areas crossed by the course.

ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER
LThe Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB races are all races which take place in open country, in mountainous terrain, with some remote areas and weather conditions which can change very fast even in early July (snow, hail, fog, heat (>30°) or intense cold (<-10°), violent wind).
Advice along the route: Do not stop at high points. If you lose sight of the way-markers: turn round and go back to the previous marker. Stay on the paths.
EQUIPMENT
Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather conditions:
Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat. Don’t wait to shiver before covering yourself up. Don’t change in full wind: anticipate or wait to be sheltered. Protect yourself against the sun.
Walking poles: Watch what you do with your poles particularly when there are lots of runners around. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands. If you choose to take them, you must take them for the whole race.
EATING & DRINKING
Hydration and the consumption of energising snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars.
FATIGUE & VIGILANCE
Rest areas are available at aid stations for a few moments sleep. It is dangerous to stop to sleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can be the cause of an accident. Run within your limits (especially on the first half) keeping your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise such as a sudden change of weather conditions.
OBLIGATORYINDIVIDUAL INSURANCE
We would like to remind you that it is mandatory to be in possession of individual accident insurance which covers any eventual costs for search and rescue in Switzerland. Such an insurance policy may be taken out with the organization of your choice. Since 2022, UTMB offers its own insurance, find out more here: https://utmb.assurinco.com/
LIVETRAIL
The app is an interface reference for your security, while at the same time giving you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this app can send, via text message, your GPS position to the organization. This represents a precious time gain in getting help to you. However, it will not be a substitute for phoning the race HQ (PC Course). A mobile phone is mandatory with the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery in working order. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the event. Smartphones are highly recommended for using the LiveTrail® app which is indispensable for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an external battery is strongly recommended.
Check that the number that you have given us as an emergency contact number is that of the person who you wish to be contacted in the case of a problem. Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention verify that you have submitted, on your runners’ page, the telephone number that you will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race.
