MyVPN UTMB’s MyVPN web page allows you to access campus applications and network services protected behind the UTMB firewall . Traveling faculty, staff, and students, as well as those located at home, can connect to the UTMB network using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) . UTMB uses a thirdparty client called Pulse Secure to connect your device to the VPN, and adds an additional layer of security by requiring the use of Duo two-factor authentication . Duo Security To increase security of information, UTMB uses Duo Security, which can be downloaded as an app on your phone . Referred to as two-factor or two-step authentication, Duo asks individuals logging in to confirm their identity via smartphone app, text, or automated voice calls . This two-factor authentication is needed to check your email on or off campus and to login to the VPN to access MySTAR when off campus . Instructions on how to install Duo can be found here .
