The Department of Graduate Medical Education is an important component of The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center’s mission, which is “to serve Northeast Texas and beyond through excellent patient care and community health, comprehensive education and innovative research.” Our purpose is to provide medical graduates with exceptional residency training programs that comply with the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The health science center offers 12 ACGME-accredited graduate medical education programs that include:

• Anesthesiology • Family Medicine – Tyler • Family Medicine – Athens • Occupational Medicine • General Surgery • General Psychiatry • General Preventive Medicine

• Rural Family Medicine in Pittsburg • Rural Psychiatry in Pittsburg • Internal Medicine

• Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship • Sports Medicine

The Department of Graduate Medical Education also offers psychology internships and postdoctoral fellowship programs.
