Founded in 1886 as a private institution, Chattanooga University.

In 1969 the University and a junior college, Chattanooga City College, merged with the University of Tennessee to form UTC. The campus is anchored by a 172,000+ square foot LEEDcertified library built to encourage collaboration, flexibility and academic success.

Border States Rate Undergraduate students who live in states that border Tennessee, plus South Carolina, pay 50% of the current out-of-state tuition.
