You’re Going Places The UTC Center for Global Education’s (CGE) Office of Study Abroad held the inaugural Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Study abroad providers were present to meet with both students and faculty; helping them explore programs and answering any questions they had about studying abroad or leading study abroad trips. Students spoke with the various study abroad providers in exchange for stamps on a world map postcard. Attendees received their final stamp from the staff at the CGE table which advertised upcoming programs for students who are interested in becoming involved with international students. Students who collected all of the country stamps on their postcard received a CGE designed t-shirt which will travel with them as they study abroad! The CGE is excited to see more students studying abroad and more international students attending our university. It is our goal to provide a place that welcomes people from all over the world. It’s Abdul! Name: Abdul Alenezi Home Country: Saudi Arabia Major: Electrical Engineering. Activities: Member of the UTC Saudi Student Association. Hobbies: Volleyball, soccer, anything I can do outside with friends.
Abdul Alenezi is an electrical engineering student from Saudi Arabia in his junior year here at UTC. Abdul first heard about Chattanooga while studying English in Atlanta. UTC’s location and engineering program convinced him to study here, but it is the community and campus life that made him fall in love with Chattanooga. “My favorite part of Chattanooga is easily the people,” he says.
Abdul sees himself living in Chattanooga for years to come. “The good thing about UTC is that the college gives you a lot of opportunities with electrical engineering,” he says. “Communications is something that I am very interested in.” Abdul’s advice to other students considering studying abroad is,

In December, Lynna traveled with Dr. Katherine Karl to Argentina for two weeks on a College of Business faculty-led study abroad trip. The purpose of the course was to learn about cross-cultural business management in Argentina, so the trip included visits to several organizations as well as tourist destinations. Naming her favorite part of the trip was no easy task for Lynna. “It’s hard to say… But at the very end, we had an optional excursion to Iguazu waterfalls,” she says. Lynna warns students to do their homework before studying abroad.
