EM 385-1-1 Construction Safety Standards 40 Hours

This course is designed for contractors, military, and government employees who enforce, or must comply with, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) safety and health requirements (EM 385-1-1, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements Manual) and OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Attendees will learn the unique procedures established by the USACE contracts and EM 385-1-1. Topics include recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in construction.

Fall Protection for the Competent Person

Contract | $8,000

This 3-day course is designed for personnel who may be designated as the Competent Person by their employer for typical constructionrelated activities involving working at height. It is also recommended for any construction, maintenance, or supervisory personnel who use fall prevention and/or protection equipment and systems or who will be responsible for safety at their job sites where fall hazards exist. Topics include: fall hazard recognition, evaluation, and control; construction exposures and applications; detailed review of fall protection regulations and requirements; hierarchy of fall protection systems; fall hazard evaluation; eliminating and controlling fall hazards; Aerial Lifts and ladders; developing and maintaining a managed fall protection program; conducting fall hazard surveys and inspections; fall prevention and protection equipment and system selection and use; and incident investigations. Training includes active participation with hands-on activities and demonstrations.

This course satisfies the training prerequisite for the Authorized Trainer Program designation in Fall Protection.

Prerequisites: OSHA #500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction, OSHA #501 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry, or ATP 191 Safety & Health Authorized Trainer. This course satisfies the requirements of OSHA, ANSI, and USACE 385-1-1.

Refresher training: Competent Persons are required to attend update training at least every two (2) years to stay current with fall protection and rescue educational industry requirements IAW ANSI Z359.2. The update course CPT 101O is now available online.

The United States Department of Labor OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces.

The program also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. This is a voluntary program and does not meet training requirements for any OSHA standards.

Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course 30 Hours | $695

This course prepares experienced Outreach Training Program trainers to present 7.5- and 15-hour Disaster Site Worker Outreach training classes intended for second responders (those arriving hours or days after the event). Course topics include the National Response Framework, the Incident Command System, disaster work zone safety, respiratory protection, communication issues, applying elements of successful adult training programs, and knowledge, skills, and attitudes to awareness training about safety and health standards at natural and human-made disaster sites. Participants are provided the opportunity to practice knowledge and skills through discussion, planned exercises, demonstrations, and presentations. This course incorporates an overview of instructional strategies, design, and practices for adult learning settings. It explores situational and cultural factors that influence adult learning and reviews the requirements of ANSI Z490.1 on how to create, maintain, and evaluate effective EH&S training.

Various instructional approaches, classroom management techniques, and the effective use of visual aids and handouts will be covered. Participants will develop informational presentations based upon the technical instruction and individual research requirements. This course provides comprehensive training on the hazards associated with H2S and their required protective measures. Participants will learn the properties and characteristics, respiratory protection requirements, gas detection, emergency response, and current H2S technology. Hands-on exercises and equipment demonstrations are included. The requirements in the ANSI Z390.1, Accepted Practices for Hydrogen Sulfide Training, American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practices, and Federal H2S regulatory standards are also covered. Participant withdrawals from a course, may result in a processing fee.If a course is canceled by UTA, participants have the option to transfer to another course, hold their funds in escrow, or receive a refund.
