Soccer Across America

The Soccer Across America Committee went through a transition in 2020, in a year dominated by COVID 19. This curtailed our involvement with key communication platforms such as the USYS Workshops / United Soccer Coaches Convention and the US Soccer Foundation Urban Soccer Symposium.

These platforms had provided us space to organize workshops to focus on Soccer Across America initiatives, such as helping new and existing programs become sustainable, and understanding how to navigate local government and nonprofit agencies.

The Soccer Across America Committee will sunset and be replaced by the Grassroots Committee. The definition of Grassroots is all that exists outside of professional soccer. The responsibilities will be the development of robust national grassroots soccer programs focused on creating increased opportunities for recreational players to support long term participation and cultivate lifelong soccer fans. We will establish systems to address the various barriers that tend to exist in marginalized communities and develop opportunities to improve participation and accessibility in those communities.
