COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER and HONORARY DEGREE RECIPIENT DR. SCOTT WOODWARD Dr. Scott Woodward was born in Quantico, Virginia to Jack and Joyce Woodward.

The family moved to Price a few years later. Scott graduated from Carbon High School in 1974. While attending CEU, Scott met his future wife Ronda. Scott graduated with his associate degree from CEU in 1978. He received his bachelors in biology and a Ph.D. in genetics from Utah State University in 1984.

Before joining the Brigham Young University faculty, Dr. Woodward was an associate at the Howard Hughs Medical Institute at the University of Utah. In 1990 he began working with the BYU Seila Egypt Excavation group as the head molecular biologist.

During 1994-95 he was a visiting professor in the Department of Near Eastern Studies. At Hebrew University he established a center for the study of ancient DNA centered on investigations of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the domestication of goats and sheep.

Dr. Woodward is currently the chairman of the Molecular Biology Department at Brigham Young University and a professor in the department of Microbiology. He has traveled the world exploring ancient tombs and caves. Dr. Woodward is an internationally acclaimed scholar in recovery, reconstruction and analysis of ancient DNA. Dr. Woodward has published extensively in scientific literature and has lectured throughout the world. His work has been featured both nationally and internationally on numerous programs including Discovery and The Leaming Channel.

He and Ronda Woodward are the parents of five children, Daniel, Darek, Michael, Jacob and Katelyn.

LONI J. RADMALL - VALEDICTORIAN Loni J. Radmall, daughter of Steven and Bernice Radmall, is a native of Price and graduate of Carbon High School. Radmall earned a 4.0 grade point average at CEU. She plans to attend Brigham Young University or University of Utah in the fall where she will seek a degree in biology. Loni's goal is to prepare for medical school.

"I am excited. It is an honor to be this year's valedictorian. It feels like a reward for all of the hard work." Loni has worked hard and enjoyed her experience at CEU, "I love CEU, because it is small. I like the small classes and I really like the faculty. The social life is great."

At CEU, Loni has been a member of the Latter-day Saint Student Association.

BRANDY BOURNE - SALUTATORIAN Brandy Bourne, daughter of Marchel and Brad Bourne, is from Garland, Utah and graduate of Bear River High School. She will receive her associate degree from CEU with a 3.982 grade point average. She is an elementary and early child education major. Following graduation Bourne will transfer to Utah State University where she has been awarded an academic transfer scholarship.

"I feel honored to represent CEU as the salutatorian. I have really enjoyed my experience here. I have grown a lot and have learned so much. I have made lasting friendships.

The faculty are outstanding. They really care about students," commented Bourne.

At CEU, Brandy has been an ambassador and is an active member of Lambda Delta Sigma a LDS sorority.
