The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) at Utah State University is Utah’s only museum dedicated to modern and contemporary American art. Its collection houses over 5,500 artworks focused on art from the American West.

Women, Surrealism and Abstraction August 24, 2020 – July 31, 2021 Women, Surrealism and Abstraction presents a broader, more inclusive view of art history, highlighting art made by women—including women of color—so often overlooked or dismissed by museums, collectors, and art historians during the 20th century, especially in discussions of surrealism and abstraction.

DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE Political Science Political Science is the study of government, public policies, political processes, and political behavior. Students are encouraged to reflect on the political demands that fall on them as citizens.

Law & Constitutional Studies This is the only major of its kind in the Intermountain West. The program is intended to introduce students to the study of law and politics, with an emphasis on the American Constitution.

International Studies The international studies program addresses the global problems of security, development, ethnic conflict, and human rights, as well as problems relating to the environment and natural resources.

THE BENEFITS OF STUDYING ABROAD LAST SEMESTER, I studied abroad over 5,000 miles away from Logan, Utah in St. Petersburg, Russia.

As cliché as it might sound, I can already say wholeheartedly studying abroad has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. All students at Utah State University should consider studying abroad because of the numerous benefits such an experience provides. It is my hope this article helps students understand why they should embark on their own once-in-a-lifetime trip abroad.

Contrary to common belief, studying abroad can actually be done in an incredibly affordable way. Nearly all universities in the United States have partner programs abroad.

USU has over thirty of these direct partnerships, which include agreements with schools among the best in their respective nations, like Waseda University and National Taiwan University. These programs allow students at USU to study at a partner university while paying their

USU tuition rates. Sure, there is a study abroad fee and travel costs, but both the Office of Global Engagement and individual colleges at USU offer many scholarships that help to alleviate this burden. While there are certainly many people who pay thousands of dollars to go abroad, it doesn’t have to be this way. Studying abroad is reasonably

priced if you do it correctly.

Many of the benefits of studying abroad are self-evident. At its heart, it’s an adventure. It’s a time of great freedom. For many individuals, studying abroad is a rare opportunity to rid themselves of everything familiar and leap into the unknown. Studying abroad is as close as one can get to true freedom in the modern world.

You too can have a potentially life-changing opportunity. Take a leap of faith and go into the Office of Global Engagement to see what your options are; the world is your oyster.

SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ANTI-VIOLENCE INFORMATION OFFICE THE REALITY IS that approximately 21% of college students report having experienced dating violence by a current partner, and 32% of college students report experiencing dating violence by a previous partner (“The Truth About Domestic Violence on College Campuses�, 2017). It’s imperative that as a student of Utah State University you are aware of the resources available to you in case you or someone you know experiences any form of violence. The Sexual Assault & Anti-Violence Information (SAAVI) Office provides free and confidential advocacy and therapy to primary and secondary survivors of all forms of interpersonal violence, including sexual assault, stalking, dating/domestic violence, bullying, and hazing.

SAAVI also offers support and resources for those in unhealthy relationships, as well as healthy relationship workshops and anti-violence outreach to the USU campus community.

GET HELP Advocacy: Advocates help remove barriers to healing by empowering survivors with information about options and helping them navigate the path they choose: • Assistance with academic, housing or work accommodations • Help in reporting to law enforcement and/or

filing a university report • Accompany a survivor in seeking medical care Therapy: SAAVI provides individual and group therapy for primary and secondary survivors of all forms of interpersonal violence. SAAVI therapists speak English and Spanish fluently.

GIVE HELP You can make a difference in the life of a survivor by: • Express belief and avoid questioning a survivor’s story. It isn’t up to you to investigate or know all the details. • Quietly listen. Don’t pressure a survivor to talk about their experience. Show interest, but don’t pry. • Treat a survivor the way you always have. Be yourself. • Accept a survivor’s experience the way it happened. Avoid statements such as, “you should have...â€? or “why didn’t you‌â€? • Give a survivor space to feel what they need to feel to move through the healing process. Instead of saying “Don’t think about it,â€? say “It’s OK to cry.â€? • Leave comparisons alone. Each person experiences trauma and the healing process differently. is a bystander intervention approach for the prevention of harmful situations, like sexual misconduct, drug and alcohol misuse, bias and discrimination, depression or suicidal thoughts, and interpersonal violence.

An Upstander

is a person who stands up to prevent harm to another.

An Upstander can intervene in four ways — the 4 Ds: Direct

THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION and Human Services is currently ranked 29th in the nation for graduate programs and 12th in the nation for research funding. The School of Teacher Education and Leadership (TEAL) encompasses elementary education, secondary education, and educational leadership in K-12 administration. Dr. Kathy Cabe Trundle, Department Head of the School of Teacher Education and Leadership, oversees the unit and provides leadership for the faculty and staff. The teacher preparation programs in the School of TEAL have an outstanding reputation and are accredited by AAQEP, a national accrediting agency for teacher preparation.
