Welcome to the wonderful world of intercollegiate polo!

Whether you are a seasoned interscholastic player who has been in the program since 5th grade, or a young NYTS player looking to try your hand at arena polo, this resource is for you. Please allow these following pages to give you a brief introduction to our 30-plus established USPA Intercollegiate Polo Programs. Whether you are looking for a big school or small, archeology or zoology, we offer a wide range of institutions across the United States and Canada to fit your needs.

The USPA Intercollegiate Polo Program is steeped in history with the very first national championship having been held in 1922. Yale and Princeton were the sole competitors, Princeton coming out the victor. Today we have both men’s and women’s teams competing in separate divisions across four regions advancing their way through regular season and tournament play, all vying for a chance at the national championship.

The intercollegiate program continues to see growth year after year and receives tremendous support from the board of governors of the USPA to afford us the opportunity to support existing programs and launch new initiatives such as the USPA Intercollegiate Scholarship Program. Brown has an open curriculum, meaning that students may choose whichever classes they wish to take without being restricted by any core requirements.

Brown gives you the option to take any class “Satisfactory/ No Credit” instead of the traditional letter grading system, making it unique to its Ivy League counterparts.

Every year, the Brown Concert Agency holds a concert known as ‘Spring Weekend’ on the main green. Past headliners have included Fetty Wap, Tinashe, Diplo and Childish Gambino.

UCONN Polo has won 11 national championships since its founding in 1969, including the 2022 USPA Division II Women’s National Intercollegiate Championship.

UCONN was originally founded as an agricultural school in 1881.

Yale is the third oldest university but home to the oldest collegiate daily newspaper.

Yale is home to an exclusive secret society called Skull and Bones. Members have included former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and John Kerry.

Yale freshmen are treated to a formal holiday banquet each year just like a Harry Potter-style Hogwarts’ feast. (215)

The Virginia Polo Center is a 75-acre facility consisting of a 400-by-150 lighted outdoor arena, a 250-by100 indoor arena and a regulation Bermuda grass field.

There is a 1500-square-foot clubhouse named the Beh House (pronounced “Bay” House).

UVa has won 12 Men’s National Intercollegiate Championships and 11 Women’s National Intercollegiate Championships.

The UW Polo Club is housed at a private facility with a spacious indoor arena and miles of fields for trail riding.

As a growing program, all our members receive focused attention and plenty of playing time as well as hands-on experience with the horses and the ins and outs of polo.

The UW offers endless local charm, whether walking down State Street, enjoying a warm spring day at the Memorial Terrace or renting boats for an afternoon on the water.

Virginia Tech’s motto is Ut Prosim which means “That I May Serve.”

The iconic stone used to build VT’s buildings is quarried just down the road from campus and is lovingly called Hokie Stone.

At home football and basketball games, the Hokies often register on the Richter scale as they jump to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. This has given Blacksburg the nickname “The Epicenter.” (919)

It is a campus tradition to put a penny on the foot of the Sul Ross statue for good luck on an exam.

The Big Event, appropriately named, is the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation with over 20,000 students pitching in to participate in community service.

Trinity has been named “Best in the West” by the 2022 U.S. News and World Report for its commitment to undergraduate teaching and research.

The Riverwalk - one of the most visited places in Texas and a gem of San Antonio –is a quick five-minute drive from the Trinity campus.

The area around San Antonio has a rich history of polo, including the Retama Polo Center, once the largest polo facility in the world that hosted many U.S. Opens and one Cup of the Americas.
