USM School of Music is a rare gem of the South. The world-class music school has prepared me for any dreams that I can and could imagine. I find myself drawing from my experiences everyday in doing what I love. There are a countless number of situations both recent and also in the past where the skills I learned there prepared me with what I needed to move closer to success.

ADVICE “My advice to incoming students would be to take advantage of everything offered to you at USM School of Music. You have a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a world class environment that is an anomaly geographically. The chance to focus on your growth specifically in this “bubble” is an opportunity that will likely not come around again. Experience it all.”

“I can certainly say that my time in the USM School of Music was the launchpad for my success in life.

I had the pleasure of learning the craft of arranging, cutting my teeth arranging for The Pride Drumline and learning the skills that landed me in the Star of Indiana World Championship percussion section.

Additionally, me and a few of my band mates formed a rock band called King Konga which took us touring all over the globe after our time at Southern Miss.”

ABOUT

Tony Lymon is currently the owner and CEO of Eidetic Creative, LLC creative design firm. He resides in Petal, MS where he is the co-music arranger/show designer for the Petal High School Marching Band. He is also the director/show designer for the Petal Indoor Percussion Theatre, a national WGI Percussion Scholastic World Finalist. Twice awarded the Outstanding Junior High Director of the Southeast Mississippi Band Directors Association, he has also was also named the 2008 Mississippi Bandmasters Association A. E.
