USL holds 1st International Hospitality, Tourism Convention
The University of Saint Louis successfully hosted its first International Hospitality and Tourism Convention held at Meynard’s Resort and Convention on December 9-10, 2022.
Attended by delegates from institutions across the country, the convention focuses on the re-establishment of the tourism industry after being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic for almost three years. It particularly explored sustainable tourism practices on the protection and promotion of heritage sites, the empowerment of local communities, and the commitment of all tourism and cultural stakeholders under the theme, “Rise of the Billion Dollar Industry:

Multinational Sustainability Towards Heritage Tourism.”
The delegation included students and educators from Isabela College of Arts and Technology, Romblon State University-Main, Kalinga State University, Bohol Island State University, University of Cagayan Valley, Leyte Normal University, University of La Salette, Ifugao State University, International School of Asia and the Pacific, Saint Mary’s University, Lyceum of Aparri, Saint Ferdinand College-Ilagan, and Apayao State College.
Mrs. Fanibeth Domingo, EnP, Department of Tourism Region 2 Director; Mr. Jame Mercado, Associate Research of the UST Graduate School; Dr. Harold Bueno,
Dean of Far Eastern University-Cebu; and Mr. Edgar Sembrano, Journo, PDI, University of Santo Tomas, graced the event as plenary speakers.
A skills and academic competition was also conducted, which included contested events in virtual tour guiding and travel feature writing, tour package proposal, quiz bee, and product development, among others.


The convention is the final output of the course subject, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events Management Class of 4th-year BS Tourism Management and BS Hospitality Management students at USL.
