Louisian alumnus receives 1st ASEAN Outstanding Young Engineers Award

Engr. Gerhard Tan, a BSECE ‘05 alumnus of the university and a telecom executive, received the first ASEAN Outstanding Young Engineers Award 2022. This award is given to outstanding practicing young ASEAN engineers in recognition for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of the engineering profession, the institution, and the ASEAN nation. He had shown an outstanding greatness of spirit, integrity, and devotion to the engineering profession and had rendered substantial services to nation-building.

The candidates had undergone a rigorous assessment and validation process, and only three made it to the award, including young engineers from Singapore and Cambodia. Engr. Tan was a go-to person, truly Louisian by heart and spirit, and a highly regarded engineer because of his significant value-creating projects implemented across the country and in ASEAN.

This award is presented on the occasion of the 40th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (CAFEO 40), held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on December 7, 2022.
