Room draw has the potential to be really stressful, but the organization this year compared to last year was so much better. - Julia Iversen

This year, room draw was less emotional and stressful. It was lighthearted and a fun time. - Rachel Foster

Room Draw 2014

Room draw was dreaded by students, just an obligation to attend. This year was different. The fun activities and food were a good idea, and it was much more organized. This made for an enjoyable evening. - Natalie Miller

Embracing Entrepreneurship Students at USF are earning money and helping the community in sweet ways. By Rob Goffney, Evan Gentry and James Broaddus

The University of Sioux Falls is home to many future CEO’s. Blaze Kilian’s Coo Snacks is helping students at the University of Sioux Falls by selling and delivering a wide variety of snacks and drinks to students who are booked with homework or just don’t want to leave their dorm room. “I’ve been in the situation where I really want a Monster or a pop, candy bar, or maybe something healthy, like an apple or an orange,” says Blaze Kilian, a senior at USF. Coo Snacks is a non-profit organization and proceeds will be donated to Teresa’s home, which is a charity in Africa. Christin VanderPol’s One Love Trading Company provides many products from different artisans from all over the world. “I have a passion for third world countries, and the lack of opportunity that they have. Here in the U.S we have many opportunities,” says VanderPol, a sophomore at USF. Books can be pricey, but USF students Blaze Kilian and Bobby Brockmueller have joined together to form Cash for books. “We buy books from students, and we really want students to get the best price,” says Kilian. He and Brockmueller match their prices online with Amazon and with the USF bookstore as well.

USF Theatre Presents

Pilgrim’s Progress

“This show is much more than an artistic retelling of the classic novel, Pilgrim’s Progress. This show perfectly illustrates the ultimate collaborative nature of successful theater. From the ensemble acting, to the set building, to the music.” - Dakota Harper, Stage Manager

Summer Shaping Up for by Julia Iversen

Throughout April, athletic graduate assistant Jake Steffen led a free 5 week program focusing on total body fitness.

“Casey Meile, the Dean of Students, approached me about doing something like this for the students. I thought it was an awesome idea in terms of the fitness and the wellness and the lifestyle of the students, Steffen says.

Spring Ball

Music Reviews

After a long, cold South Dakota winter, University of Sioux Falls students are excited for spring sports. However, it hasn’t all been sunshine and daisies. Fields that are now dry and perfect were covered in a few inches of snow and ice only a few days previous. For USF senior softball pitcher Amanda Walters, it’s just another day in the life of a spring athlete.

The Menzingers | Rented World When a band releases an album with nearly universal acclaim, it can be difficult to make a complacent follow-up. However, rock band the Menzingers deliver and release yet another consistent and fantastic new album in Rented World. The Offspring | Smash This year marks 20 years since Smash was released, and this was one of the first albums I ever bought, so I felt I had no choice but to review the album since this is one of the first albums that inspired me to become a musician.

Student Senate News by Lauren Nelson | ‘14 - ‘15 Student Senate President

Meet Your New President

Hey there! My name is Lauren Nelson and I am going to be your Student Senate President for the 2014-2015 school year. My majors are Business Administration and Political Science and I am also an RA in Kroske hall. I have a passion for people and for the University of Sioux Falls, so I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the students, the Senate, faculty, and administration at USF. We have a fantastic, newly elected Student Senate executive team for the upcoming school year: Sophie Harano is Vice President, Seth Lewis is treasurer, and Rachel Thornton is secretary. Folks, there are bright things on the horizon. We have added 5 new seats to the Senate next year in the form of an Activities Committee. The Activities Committee will work closely with the Student Activities Coordinator to plan and execute events on campus, and we are very excited to have them affiliated and working with the Senate! We believe that the addition of the Activities Committee will be a more efficient and effective way to plan activities that you, the students, would appreciate!

Remember, the function of Student Senate is to fund student clubs and represent the interests of the students, so if you ever have questions, concerns, or ideas about how you could enhance something about our great school, locate a Student Senator and express your thoughts to them. We want to hear from you! I look forward to working with all of you in the year to come. Have a great summer and get excited about next year! Go Cougars!
