The Sol Price Legacy
The
entrepreneur and usc alumnus believed in giving back — and lifting people up
In 2011, the Price Family Charitable Fund made a $50 million gift to endow the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, honoring the life and legacy of the late Sol Price.
A visionary entrepreneur who pioneered creative practices in retail, real estate and philanthropy, Sol was also dedicated to improving quality of life for everyone.
As founder of Price Club, which later merged with Costco, Sol was known especially for treating employees with care and dignity. He worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for families in low-income urban areas by implementing researchbased practices related to all the USC Price School’s primary fields.
Sol’s son, Robert, has carried on his father’s vision for a better society, investing in research-backed solutions for developing effective public policy and practices. The gift reflects a remarkable alignment between the legacy of the Price family and the mission of the school.
