Phase 3 Transition from Pandemic to Endemic (Red to Orange) Message Date: February 18, 2022 / Effective Date: March 1

Major Changes: Student Surveillance Testing Lifts Routine surveillance testing reduced for students who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines (if your vaccine status is vaccinated, and with a booster if eligible). Guests permitted in USC Housing campus residences. Gym reservations no longer required at campus fitness facilities. Outdoor masking no longer required for events (effective February 16).

Who is still required to test regularly? Students, faculty and staff who are: 1) not up to date with vaccines by having a booster*; 2) not two weeks past a primary series vaccination (not fully vaccinated status)*; or 3) unvaccinated with an approved exemption (every 72 hours) *Students are required to test twice weekly (every 4 days). Faculty and staff are required to test once weekly (every 8 days).

Continuation without changes:  Masking Indoors is required; masking required on transportation and at health care facility locations, including testing sites is required. Masking by determination of university health officials continues in effect.  PPE-grade masks are made available upon request to employees and students.  Isolation accommodations are available to students who test positive.  Trojan Check continues to be enforced at the perimeter, including the daily wellness check.  Visitors are required to show proof of vaccination OR a 72-hour negative test for campus entry.  PCR testing is available for symptomatic individuals and individuals who have had an exposure to a positive person.  Vaccines and booster doses are available to the campus community.  “Hygiene Health and Safety” module still required for students, faculty, and staff.  HVAC upgrades maintained and monitored.  Travel restrictions in place for unvaccinated individuals (university-sponsored travel not permitted); travel restricted to level 4 countries.
