Join us for the launch of Beyond the Monolith, a long-term series of events at the USC Kaufman School of Dance designed to uplift the important, diverse, and multifaceted voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) artists, and to increase representation and engagement with their creative work. The first event will feature screenings of award-winning dance films by Kaufman students and faculty. Kaufman BFA students will perform excerpts of new works by renowned dancerchoreographers Yin Yue (founder of Yin Yue Dance Company, NYC) and Peter Chu (chuthis., Las Vegas). Yue and Chu will then join the Kaufman artists for a conversation about creating work and navigating the professional dance world in a panel moderated by USC professor Bonnie Oda Homsey, which will include filmmakers Hayden Rivas and Ryan Phuong and faculty members Achinta S. McDaniel and Tiffany Bong.

Civic engagement, the unsheltered and unhoused, climate change, mass incarceration, educational inequity, and more—what is your passion and how can you address it through the arts? Arts in Action invites USC students to join an informative, interactive, and inspiring workshop, mixer, and catalyst designed to help participants create change through the arts. Leading artists and activists will give short talks, and empower students through hand-on activities.
