ONE USC Safety Vision Welcome

“The ONE USC Safety Vision imagines a USC where everyone feels safe, respected and protected from crime, while recognizing that this can be achieved only by addressing the diverse experiences and needs of all USC students, faculty, staff and neighbors.”

Welcome to the Trojan Community!

I’m Lauretta Hill, chief of the USC Department of Public Safety. Fostering an environment where everyone feels safe, secure and protected from crime is a top priority for our department. The ONE USC Safety Vision is our blueprint for providing that environment for your student.

The ONE USC Safety Vision was born from the efforts of our Community Advisory Board, which led a broad, inclusive, year-long effort that engaged hundreds of students, faculty, staff and neighbors in a discussion of what it means to feel safe as a member of the Trojan Community and the ways in which the university must align itself to make this goal a reality.

It is a powerful reminder that we all come from diverse backgrounds and experiences and that

it takes each of us and all of us working together to create ONE USC.

The vision very much aligns with my own philosophy, honed from my years of community policing and community engagement experience. It is only when our institutions uphold the values of trust, inclusion, respect and belonging, that we can truly feel safe and thrive.

As your student begins their academic journey, I want to assure you the USC Department of Public Safety is here to support their success. My door is open, I am committed to listening and I am determined to make the ONE USC Safety Vision a reality for all. Fight On!
