USCB holds first Hospitality Training seminar as part of the USCB Center for Event Management and Hospitality Training September 28, 2011 Hilton Head Island, SC- The University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for Event Management and Hospitality Training will launch programming at 2:00pm on September 28th, at the Harbour Town Conference Center in Sea Pines, offering its first seminar to Hilton Head Island hospitality employees. This opening seminar is the first in a series of 20 scheduled between now and June 30th, 2012. The seminars are free of charge and are underwritten by the town of Hilton Head Island’s financial support of the training component of the Center. The goal of this program is to certify the hospitality workforce as knowledgeable experts of Hilton Head Island in terms of island-specific knowledge, history, and extraordinary customer service. These and future seminars will be open to current and potential hospitality industry employees on Hilton Head Island. Individuals wishing to become Certified Island Ambassadors will need to complete the 3 required seminars before earning a lapel pin, designating them as Certified Island Ambassadors. As noted in the program mission statement, the program will “ensure hospitality employees recognize their key role as exceptional service providers. Graduates of the program will positively impact the ‘Island’ experience for residents and visitors alike.” The USCB Center for Event Management and Hospitality Training is a collaboration made possible through funding from the Town of Hilton Head. According to Stephen G. Riley, Town Manager, “The potential to grow this partnership into something bigger that brings more education and cultural opportunities to the Island is perhaps the greatest benefit of this collaboration.”
