USCB Brings Italy to the Lowcountry Bluffton, SC – With the increased popularity of Italy as a travel destination, the University of South Carolina Beaufort is offering a class in Conversational Italian for area residents. According to Marilyn Arseneau Program Director of Continuing Education, “Increasingly over the past two years, people have asked if we could offer an Italian course. Either they have been to Italy and loved it, or plan to travel there in the future and would like to get a head start on conversation starters and responses.” USCB Associate Professor of Biology and native of Milan, Giuliana Gusmaroli will assist participants in acquiring vocabulary for basic conversation and the formation of simple sentences and requests. Arseneau notes, “I was thrilled after meeting Giuliana to discover that she thought it would be really fun to teach and talk about her beloved homeland.” In addition to this course, Gusmaroli is also presenting a class for USCB’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) this fall entitled, “A Glance at My Italy.” Conversational Italian is offered on USCB’s Hilton Head Gateway Campus in Bluffton on Tuesdays from 6-8 pm, starting on Sept. 13th. Cost for the class is $170 for 11 weeks. Conversational Spanish classes will also be held during the fall semester on Hilton Head Island at the Pineland Station Mall, and on USCB’s Hilton Head Gateway campus in Bluffton, as well as the Historic Beaufort campus. Please check class scheduling at www.uscb.edu/continuingeducation and call Marilyn Arseneau at 208-8237 for detailed information and to register. ###
