Liberal Studies is designed specifically to meet the needs of non-traditional students, certain transfer students, students with particular strengths and needs, and students who wish to take as much advanced study as possible in disciplines in which USCB does not presently offer majors. The flexibility of this program allows majors to combine science, liberal arts and business upper-level courses into a program of study that supports their aspirations for graduate studies or professional development.

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN LIBERAL STUDIES Gordon Haist, Program Director CURRICULUM The Bachelor of Arts with a major in liberal studies (BLST) offers two degree paths for students. Students may pursue an interdisciplinary curriculum.

Alternatively, students may pursue a curriculum with a concentration in security studies. (See III below.)

BENEFITS OF A LIBERAL STUDIES DEGREE Liberal Studies, like other degrees in the humanities and social sciences, prepares graduates for graduate studies and positions where degrees, not specific majors, are required. Individualized upper level curricula support graduate study and careers appropriate to graduates’ particular interests.
