Introduction
The transportation of two 28,000+ lb CAT mining engines required a specialized step-deck trailer and rigorous securing procedures to ensure safe, over-the-road delivery. When a mining company needed two CAT – C175-16 engines delivered, US Cargo Link answered the call.
The C175 engine is built for the 793F Haul Truck – producing enough power to move 265 tons of material. Mining requires heavy-duty equipment to move earth from the quarry to the production line.
With two of these engines being transported, the combined dry weight between them is 57,500 lb – or about four large elephants. This is not an issue for modern trailers but can still be an issue for roads not designed for that weight capacity.
• Dry Weight: 28,750 lb – 13,040 kg
• Height: 8’2” – 2.47 m
• Length: 14’9” – 4.51 m
• Width: 6’1” - 1.84 m
