Mathematics Learn how to use math to understand the world and shape your future. Mathematics is at the heart of our rapidly advancing world—underpinning discoveries in science, shaping innovation in technology, and guiding decisions in fields as diverse as healthcare, finance, and cybersecurity. As a math major at Ursuline, you’ll gain the analytical thinking skills that employers value most and the problem-solving mindset needed to thrive in any career. Whether you’re modeling the spread of disease, analyzing chemical reactions, or encrypting data to secure information systems, the math you study will have powerful, real-world applications. You’ll explore topics like calculus, number theory, statistics, and linear algebra, and see how these subjects connect to disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, and computer science. Ursuline’s flexible curriculum allows you to easily add a second major or minor in a closely related field—like education, chemistry, biology, or business—broadening your career options and deepening your expertise. Our small class sizes ensure you’ll receive personalized instruction and mentorship from faculty dedicated to your success. As a capstone to your experience, you’ll complete a senior project that invites you to investigate a mathematical topic of your choosing, blending your interests and career goals into a rigorous independent study. Bridge Programs 3+4 Pharmacy Program Ursuline College partners with nationally recognized Duquesne University to offer students interested in pharmacy the opportunity to earn both a BA in Chemistry or Biochemistry and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree at an accelerated pace. After three years of majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry at Ursuline, qualified students can enroll at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and complete the PharmD program in four additional years. Duquesne’s program ranks second among the nation’s Catholic pharmacy schools and boasts a 99% job placement rate for the past 25 years. 4+4 LECOM Early Acceptance Program for Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacology Get accepted to medical, dental, or pharmacy school before you even graduate high school with Ursuline’s 4+4 partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (LECOM) medical, dental, and pharmacy schools. Through this program, you’ll earn a traditional four-year bachelor’s degree from Ursuline in Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry and automatically enter a four-year medical, dental, or pharmacy program the summer after graduation. LECOM reserves up to five seats each year specifically for Ursuline students. 4+1 Education Program

In Ursuline’s undergraduate education program you’ll study a major that interests you and supports the teaching licensure area you plan to pursue, like mathematics or biology. (That’s the 4.) At the same time, you’ll take 12-15 credits of education courses that will provide the foundation you’ll build upon at the master’s level. Once you earn your undergraduate degree, you’ll enter our graduate teacher licensure program, which you will complete in one year. (That’s the 1.) You will leave Ursuline College with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and eligibility for an Ohio teaching license. 3+2 Engineering Program In the 3+2 Engineering program, you’ll spend three years at Ursuline majoring in Chemistry or Biology before moving to Dayton for an additional two years. The first year of engineering school fulfills the requirements for a bachelor’s in Chemistry or Biology from Ursuline College, while the combined two fulfill the requirements for the M.S. in Engineering from Dayton. The University of Dayton School of Engineering is nationally recognized and is the number one Catholic University in the nation for all sponsored engineering research and development. You can choose from the following pathways: BA Biology to MS Bioengineering, BA Chemistry to MS Chemical Engineering, or BA Chemistry to MS Materials Engineering.
