Playfair Display is a serif typeface, hence it goes well with other linear + sans-serif fonts such as Gotham, Lato, Roboto, Neue Helvetica Light, etc. Quite often, the headlines are written in Playfair and the text supporting it is a sans-serif font that matches the same.

Playfair medium and Gotham Thin make an ideal pair.
