Fall semester began on the thirteenth when the Freshmen re::istered ...upper classmen registered on the following day and classes began on the fifteenth ..Changes were made in the schedules . . • W' had night classes ...Freshmen got acquainted with the upper classmen at the all college :nixer . our first football game was with Ashland Second Frontier on the college farm brought people from far and wide to see our farm being given a thorough treatment with the newest farm methods ...First assembly on the twentieth was in the form of a pep rally in preparation for the game with Defiance Methodist reception for the College students meant lots of food and a good time for all who attended.
Everyone was so happy about the wonderful weather and getting ready for Homecoming ... Marjorie Fadely was elected Homecoming Queen and reigned during the game with Clarion, played on our home field ... Rosena Wiseman and Isabel Mossford were her attendants ...The dance in the evening was a big success ...although the fellows on the football team were a little beat) ...Freshman week was the second week in the month ... And we got to see how the freshman girls look without their make-up ... The Lyceum series began on October thirteenth with the "Deep River Quartet" and everyone on the campus was singing My Blue Heaven because of their rendition ...Dad's Day at Rio Grande was on October twenty-third. We played Salem at Jackson and all the Dad's were there rooting for our boys ...The carnival at the High School was on the twenty-sixth . .. There was no school on the twenty-ninth because of the Southeastern Teachers Meeting in Athens.

A cold, dreary month got off to a bright start by our football team defeating Taylor University at Wellston ...Christian Emphasis Week during the week of the seventh with Rev. Paul Christianson of Youngstown, Ohio, as the leader our last football game of the season with Heidelburg at Ironton ('nuff said) ... The first presentation of the year by the Dramatics Club was ThroughtheKeyhole given on the seventeenth ... Chapel pageant of Thanksgiving was presented on the twenty-third by the contemporary Literature class ...Thanksgiving recess began on Wednesday noon the twenty-fourth so everyone began packing on Monday to go home ...Classes resumed on the twenty-ninth.
The annual Athletic Banquet, honoring our football and basketball lettermen was given on March seventh :1t the Farmer's Hotel in Gallipolis ...at this banquet, Newt Oliver also received the Helm5 award ...Christian Emphasis Week was the week of the eighth with Rev.Carl Plummer of Portsmouth as the leader ...The Women's League Banquet was given on the fifteenth and Miss Betty Jenkin� w:1s guest speaker .The Student Council had its spring formal on the nineteenth and all the girls looked as pretty as the new spring flowers . . . Practice was well under way for the "R" Association minstrel and the second semester play Now andForever, both co be presented in April ...Jack Rank (the one man cheater) presented Macbeth on the twenty-eighth ...The boys were settled in the new dorm by the end of the month and talk was going around about having an "Open House."
Spring was bustin' out all over the campus and most of the students were getting the usual case of spring fever ...Easter recess began on the thirteenth and classes resumed on the nineteenth ...The play, NowandForever was presented by the college on the twenty-first .On the twenty-sixth, many college students were entertained by an evening's performance by a magician at the high school ...On the twenty-seventh, the last of our Lyceum Series was presented ...it was the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Mikado everyone was running around like mad in preparation for May Day and Clean-up Day on the campus, through the efforts of the student body, it was given a thorough cleaning.
Saturday, May seventh was May Day and Helen Kuhner looked beautiful as she reigned as May Queen ...The theme of the United Nations was carried through-out the program by songs and dances of the many countries represented ...The Formal in the evening was a fitting climax for the celebration ...Preparation began for Graduation Day ...and last minute cramming was being done for our final exams . .. after final exams were finished and commencement day was over, suitcases, trunks and boxes were being packed to be sent home and tearful goodbyes were being said.
