"OH FAIREST OF THE RIO MAIDS"

WithApologiesto"Bill"C.Bryant

Oh fairest of the Rio maids!

Thy home is in the campus shades; Green beaus and glimpses on the sly, Are all that meet thy lovely eye.

Thy sports, thy wanderings, while at school, Are ever in the graveyard cool; And all the beauty of the place Is in the fact, you have a case.

As twilight o'er the campus falls, Thy lover comes to make his calls; His step is as the western wind, If he's about an hour behind.

You greet him with a lovely smile, That keeps him guessing all the while; Till in his dreams he longs to sip Thy <;tll-day-suckered ruby lip.

He kneels before thee with such grace, As hf essays to plead his case; For something in thy glance and sigh Whispers, "Do it now or die."

And so, fair damsel, be a sport, {If you'd avoid a false report) And join the army, fly to arms, And taste of matrimonial charms.
