A HAND BLOCKED COTTON SHOPPING BAG THAT REPLACES PLASTIC & LOOKS COOL IS A GREAT IDEA. BUT HOW ABOUT A BAG
THAT CARRIES MORE WEIGHT?
THE TOTE MAKES A TREMENDOUS ONGOING DIFFERENCE FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN RURAL INDIA. URBAN ROAD HAVE CREATED A 100 PERCENT COTTON, HAND LOOMED, HAND BLOCKED, HAND SCREEN PRINTED BAG CREATED ON PEDAL MACHINES IN THREE DISTINCT CHEERFUL MODERN DESIGNS. EACH BAG GENERATES TRAINING IN NEW SKILLS FOR THE WOMEN WHO MAKE THEM IN RURAL INDIA AND EACH BAG CONTRIBUTES DIRECT FUNDS TO CLOTHE, FEED AND EDUCATE INDIAN CHILDREN IN NEED. The trend for replacing plastic shopping bags with a sustainable, hip alternative has been growing and the bag takes this idea a step further by being environmentally and socially caring. Use your bag as a second shopper, a library bag, a grocery tote or a back up bag for the school run. Designed to travel far, machine wash and feel light on the shoulder, our bag makes natural living (and giving) second nature.
there are nearly
400 million children in India
70 million are forced into child labor
: CARRYING A COTTON SHOPPER IS A SIMPLE LIFESTYLE CHOICE FOR US, BUT IT MEANS SO MUCH MORE IN INDIA. Urban Road
is working with India Gospel League (IGL) to equip women with skills and provide for children in India. Childcare has been an integral part of IGL’s outreach from the ministry’s inception. IGL operates nearly 20 children’s homes, a growing number of schools and hundreds of daycare centres throughout India. The purchase of live love give bags also provide skills training, supplies, materials and ongoing support to help (predominantly) female villagers learn a trade such as hand looming fabric, sewing, tailoring, block printing screen printing and more.
: WE ALL WORRY ABOUT NATIONS IN NEED, THE WOMEN OUR AGE WITH SO FEW OPTIONS, THE GENERATIONS OF CHILDREN GOING WITHOUT ADEQUATE CLOTHING, FOOD AND BASIC EDUCATION. Sometimes the
problems seem too vast to fathom, too big to solve. But one small act of caring creates a ripple effect of nurturing change in communities across India. Carrying a bag not only shows you care, it generates immediate change in practical ways that are needed immediately. Nearly 50 percent of the 1.3 billion people living in India are under the age of 14. Twelve percent of all children born in India will not live to their first birthday. Every contribution we make to care and outreach helps save lives and build futures.
only 6% complete high school
20% have no access to education at all
: WHEN CHOOSING A BAG YOU CAN GIVE THREE WAYS AS THERE ARE THREE DONATIONS TO CHOOSE FROM. The donations go to unsponsored children in rural villages and children in orphanages (IGL children’s homes) across India and they help in the following ways:
MEALS India is no stranger to the devastating effects of ravaging hunger. IGL is providing food to refugees and children in need. We need your help to meet people’s most basic needs for those who cannot find even one good meal a day. Your gift will provide warm, nutritious meals to families and children without. CLOTHING When children come to an IGL home, they come with just the clothes on their backs which, in some cases, are just tattered rags. You can provide an outfit for a child that he or she will receive upon arrival and, what’s more, the comfort and security that comes along with being fully clothed and cared for. EDUCATION Your gift toward the education of a child will literally change his or her future from bleak to one of endless possibilities. IGL provides education in a number of settings and your gift will educate children in IGL children’s homes, schools, daycare centres and after-school study centres. http://www.urbanroad.com.au telephone: 0408 345 488 http://www.iglworld.org
