INSURANCE Insights

Maybe you're buying your first home, welcoming a new baby, handing the car keys to a teenage driver, preparing for retirement, or getting ready to enroll in Medicare. Each milestone brings exciting opportunities. The challenge is that insurance isn't something most of us think about every day. That's why reviewing your coverage regularly, and having someone you trust to answer questions, makes all the difference. In the following pages, you'll meet two trusted local professionals who have spent years helping River Valley residents navigate important insurance decisions. You'll also find practical information designed to help you ask better questions, understand your options, and feel more confident about protecting what matters most.

Brent Lovell

SHELTER INSURANCE

Twenty-five years ago, Brent Lovell found his way into insurance because of a simple desire: the chance to help families through life's biggest moments — a new marriage, a first home, an unexpected loss. A quarter-century later, that's still what gets him out of bed each morning. "What motivates me most is still the people," Brent says. "Every day brings an opportunity to help someone protect what matters most to them — their home, their family, their future."

Based with Shelter Insurance in the River Valley, Brent has built his career the old-fashioned way: through trust, follow-through, and treating every client like family. He's quick to note that insurance is never a one-and-done transaction, it's an ongoing conversation that should evolve as life does.

Outside the office, Brent's priorities are the same as they are at work — faith, family, and community. He's active in his church, coaches youth sports, and serves with organizations like The Porch, JYM board, and FCA. "Being able to serve a community like the River Valley is something I genuinely enjoy and take pride in. I want clients to feel like they're more than a policy number," he says. "I want them to know they've found someone who genuinely cares and we'll be there when they need help most."

ASK THE EXPERT: BRENT LOVELL

Q: What life events should prompt someone to review their coverage?

A: Major changes — buying a home, getting married, having a child, a new vehicle, or starting a business — are all good moments to make sure your protection still fits your life.

Q: What's the biggest misconception people have about insurance?

A: The myth of full coverage. The options and deductibles you choose directly affect your premium; a good agent helps you find the right balance.

Q: What coverage gap surprises clients most often?

A: Liability limits. Many people choose the bare minimum without realizing the value of carrying enough.

Q: Is there a coverage people often overlook until it's too late?

A: Life insurance. It's easy to put off, but it's one of the most important pieces of a family's long-term protection.

Q: What trend should homeowners and families be paying attention to?

A: Rising costs of living mean a lot of people are underinsured without realizing it; a policy that fit five years ago may not fit today. It's worth a second look every year or two.

Q: What's one piece of advice you'd give every River Valley family?

A: Ask questions. No question is too small, insurance is complex, and we're here to help.

Gentry Jayroe

MEDICARE SPECIALIST OF ARKANSAS

Medicare can feel overwhelming long before enrollment begins. That's exactly why Gentry Jayroe has spent years helping clients understand the details and make confident decisions about coverage. With 40 years of combined agency experience and more than 15 years serving the River Valley, Gentry and the Medicare Specialist of Arkansas team have built their reputation on a simple idea: no two clients are ever quite the same.

Gentry was drawn to the industry because of the chance to help people during important moments in life. "Whether someone is preparing for Medicare, protecting their family, or trying to make sense of options, insurance is really about helping someone feel informed and prepared," he says.

"Medicare is not one-size-fits-all," he adds. "The conversation has to start with the person, not the plan." Before discussing options, he wants to know what matters most — keeping a favorite doctor, managing prescriptions, or watching monthly costs. For Gentry, the most rewarding part of the job isn't helping people choose a Medicare plan, it's building relationships that last for years. "Professionally, I'm proud of the relationships l've built and the families l've had the privilege to serve," he says.

ASK THE EXPERT: GENTRY JAYROE

Q: When should people prepare for Medicare?

A: At least six months before turning 65, which allows time to understand options, review doctors and prescriptions, and decide without feeling rushed.

Q: What's the biggest Medicare misconception?

A: That it covers everything. The various types of coverage all work differently, and understanding the difference matters.

Q: What surprises new Medicare clients most?

A: H ow many choices there are. Plans can vary by county, provider network, prescriptions, and pharmacy, which is why reviewing the details annually is vital.

Q: What mistakes do people commonly make?

A: Choosing a plan based only on the premium or a television ad, or assuming a doctor or prescription will automatically be covered.

Q: Should you take advantage of a yearly review?

A: Yes! The Annual Election Period is October 15 through December 7. Even happy clients should check for changes to premiums, pharmacies, and coverage.

Q: What's one thing you wish everyone understood about Medicare?

A: Y ou don't have to figure it out alone. Questions are normal; a local licensed agent can help make the process much less stressful.
