Innovative Master’s Degrees

HAMK offers selected Master’s degree programmes in English. This year we will admit international students to our newest programmes: Sustainable Technologies and Management in Sustainable Business!

In total, HAMK has 13 Master’s degree programmes, most of which are conducted in Finnish.

Sustainable Technologies

Master’s degree programme

Master of Engineering

1–2 years, 60 Credits University Centre, Hämeenlinna

HAMK Tech Research Centre, FINLAND

Study objectives

The degree programme is meant for individuals working with industrial research and development (R&D) activities or someone who is willing to work and develop in research-oriented work.

Studies will strengthen your ability to carry out sustainable development in R&D projects by providing expertise in research and development work and a deep understanding of applied research in a chosen specialisation area. You will increase your potential and ability to take leadership in research projects and other development work.

Content of the Studies

The specialisation areas that we offer are:

• Sustainable materials science and engineering

• Robotics and 3D technologies

• Energy efficiency

• Steel structures and metal.

The specialisation studies and the thesis will be completed in research groups in the HAMK Tech research unit and supervised by the research group leaders. The learning methods include contact sessions, group works, individual projects and flipped class room.

Outcome of the Studies

When you graduate, you will have highly specialised knowledge in your field, which forms a basis for original research and development work.

You have critical skills for experimental or theoretical development work as well as data collection and assessment methods in the industry.

Tuition Fee for EU/EEA students: There is no tuition fee

Tuition Fee for non-EU/EEA students: 11 700 € per academic year

Full time studies: 8–16 model Study at HAMK Tech Research Unit together with HAMK Tech Research Groups. You will carry out your studies at monthly contact days at our campuses and virtual meetings with your study group and research groups.

Study objectives

Sustainable actions of a business start with engaged leaders. This degree programme is intended for those who want to enhance their knowledge of design and innovation for sustainability in business. You might be looking to start a business of your own, shift career paths or broaden your skill set within your current role. Management in Sustainable Business is a comprehensive introduction to sustainable, data-driven, and innovative business management.

Content of the Studies

Develop your own insights and enhance your capabilities in order to make informed choices and become more effective at influencing positive sustainable change in your field of business. Our programme will strengthen your ability to

• expand your knowledge of sustainability across various businesses, industries, and practices

• argue the business case for sustainability informed by a comprehensive understanding of the impact of current global economic, social, and environmental pressures

• integrate sustainability across your organization’s value chain to ensure long-term value creation

Outcome of the Studies

The competences you will gain respond to the requirements of companies and other organizations and prepare you for challenging development projects in relation to sustainable business. As a graduate you

Tuition Fee for non-EU/EEA students: 11 700 € per academic year

Part-time studies, ONLINE: Studies are implemented online, and it is possible to study the degree from your own home country and while you are working. During the entire study period, 2-3 intensive weeks are included and implemented with our international partner universities. You can choose if you want to attend the intensive week on location or online.
