Possible trees that can be planted in Uptown -Nikau -Taraire -Karaka -Kowhai -Pohutukawa - Cootamundra wattle The Taraire and Karaka tree grows berries for the Kereru birds who are endangered. Providing them a habitat and food source allows to repopulate.

Kowhai, Pohutukawa and Cootamundra wattle trees provides bee with pollen and nectar to give them energy and pollination for plants. These plants can help revitalise the ecosystem in Uptown.

By transforming the floodplain area into a wetland park, it will increasing permeability around existing buildings. Planting the vegetation, installing green roofs and reusing the rainwater,will mimic natural processes by enhancing infiltration, transpiration, and attenuation in the floodplain.

Zoning Commercial zones have green areas to improve the ecological quality of the community while increasing the ornamental aspect

More bus routes through other residential areas, more options to get to uptown

The proximity of residential areas and mixed use areas makes it easier for people to live there.

More greenery between the highway and the residential areas will better block noise pollution and improve air quality. There will also be more green areas in - the mixed use area to reduce fatigue in this area.

There will be more residential areas in uptown, which will gradually also develop into high density.

There are mixed density apartments in di erent zones that allow building various levels of building in uptown, mixed use areas are designed for having multiple amenities and apartments allow easy access to uptown. The educational area is also in the development of the 2124 plan. Having more educational areas uptown will bring di erent perspectives to everyone and allow more job opportunities and learning experiences in uptown. By adding more green spaces and community gardens across the whole area of uptown brings more opportunities for people to learn about gardens. And enjoy the time at the park. Meanwhile, maximising green spaces also allows to prevent ood mitigations in the future and bring more biodiversity attraction into uptown.

Aiming To design a "sensing city" that adapts to 100 years in the future in Uptown

Smell, Eat, watch, touch, listen Stables Lane was designed to access to Winstone Stables that was constructed in 1882.

The building was used as a home for more than 200 Clydesdales horses that were being used to transport goods around Auckland. By 1930, the transportation method of using horse were replaced with cars.

The car park has been transformed into the public park where local residents can use it as fruit orchard.

Stable Lane is currently being used as a carpark for the local people working in the shops and restaurants facing Symond Street.

New Stables Lane will be used as a terrace for the restaurants and cafes that lines up along side the street and have artist street concert.

This will benefit the local business by providing pleasing space for their customers engage with and appreciate the commercial and artistic histories of Uptown.

A pocket green space, planted with native owers plants, providing residents with a place to relax and smell the healing scent of owers.

The Stables building was used as manufacturing plant, auto-repairs and food production facilities until 1990, when artists decided to use this building as studio residence for artists.

The rain garden has been planted with native trees to attract more birds biodiversity together and provides a bird watching platform to hear the birds singing

Mitigating Climate Changes As one of the mitigation plan to adapt climate changes, green roof will be installed on the appropriate buildings to inclease the carbon sequestration rates within the site.

St Benedicts will be regenerated into a walkable and cyclist-friendly permeable bricks pathway.

With the rain garden on the center of the street to help create a flood mitigating city, the street will be surrounded by churches,cafes, offices and residential buildings on the both sides. ​

These green roofs will also work as a filter for the rainwaters.

Symonds Street will be transformed into a street that will be for bike, bus and delivery trucks. One day during the weekend at night the streets will be transformed into night markets where the public can interact with local businesses.
