Weekly Newsletter Summer 2018 Week 11 A week of performance and celebration at Upton. I hope you all enjoyed Beauty and the Beast. The children in Forms 2 to 6 worked so hard delivering three outstanding performances and I am so proud of them all. The Nursery and Transition Singsongs also put a happy spring in our step this week. They were superb, such talent and confidence, well done Early Years. Bare Necessities, The Greatest Showman, and the happy penguin song – what a wonderful celebration of songs. The performances continued this week as last evening we took the Form 6 girls from last year and this year to see Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre in London. A delightful group of girls who were a pleasure to take and much fun was had. A spectacular show with a nod to Beauty and the Beast which was very apt considering Upton’s performances this week. Well done Mrs Newcombe and her young gardeners for growing the most beautiful tomatoes, beans, potatoes and mint. Thank you Miss James for watering them regularly in this heat, planting the sunflowers and to the whole gardening team for all the love that goes into this special section of Upton. I was delighted to see so many children in my office this week with exceptional work and creations. Sofia and Selin from Form 4 appeared with exquisite clay roses they had made by hand. They were truly beautiful. Ailsa and Francesca drew the most amazing charcoal sketches of Upton yesterday in Art and I will most certainly put them up in the school. Amber and Gabriella from Form 3 came to show me their incredibly well-written stories they had completed and Form 4 produced The Fourtastic Times, their very own magazine It is always such a pleasure to celebrate the children’s amazing achievements. I very much look forward to sharing next week’s events with you especially Prize Day on Thursday where Dr Ben Garrod, a biologist, primatologist and broadcaster will joins us and tell us all about his experiences and adventures. Zahra and her younger sister Rania from Forms 4 and 2 were each Headmistress for a Day this week. They greeted pupils and their parents at the school gate on Wednesday morning then proudly gave out Headmistress Awards for super work. They chose their favourite lunch for the whole school of lasagne and strawberry pink ice cream!

Congratulations to our swimming teacher Sarah Beattie who won her age category at the Windsor triathlon two weeks ago - a brilliant achievement Next Week’s Calendar
