Uppingham School Uniform and Dress Code

Introduction

At Uppingham our pupils are committed to the highest standards in their work, behaviour and personal presentation. The dress code is an essential part of this, creating a sense of identity and pride, whether pupils are striding around the quads between lessons, running out onto the playing fields in their sports kit, or representing the School at events.

General

Adherence to the dress code is an area in which School and parents can usefully co-operate. We expect pupils to look smart at all times with their top button done up, tie tied neatly and shirt tucked into their trousers/skirts. Please insist on the regulation dress code, without variations. Please do not put a Housemaster/ mistress into the awkward position of being asked to allow rule breaking on the grounds that money has already been spent on some deviation from the dress code specified. In case of doubt please ask first.

Labelling of uniform

Name tapes and stickers are automatically ordered for all pupils entering the School and are available for collection at the time of uniform fittings. All items purchased from the School Shop can be named and delivered to your child's House or be collected.

Labelling of home clothes

All items of home clothing and other articles must be named. Parents should note that naming items is an important safeguard against loss.
