Uppingham Cairo offers an efficient and reliable luxury bus service, enabling our children to travel between school and their home in Cairo in safety and comfort.
With this service, parents can relax as we have highly trained professionals planning, organising, monitoring and taking immediate action to safeguard the children from any problems and ensure they are comfortable and safe at alltimes
The UC school bus service is overseen by our Director of Security and Safety who is based at the school, ensuring the smooth operation of the service and easycommunicationwithourbususers
Pick Up and Drop Off
Pupilsarepicked-upanddroppedoffattheirhomeatthescheduledtime eachday,asadvisedbytheFleetTeam.
Bus Routes
Thebusroutesarescheduledtoensurethemostefficientservicetoand fromschool Routesandpickuptimesarecontinuallymonitoredtoensure thebestavailableroute,particularlyifnewpupilsjointhebus
Order of Collection and Drop Off
Thebusroutesareoperatedsothatthechildrenwhoarecollectedfirstin themorningareusuallydroppedofflastintheafternoon,andviceversa Inotherwords,thebusroutesreverseintheafternoonsandevening
Thisissothateachchildspendstheleastamountoftimeonthebus possible Inaddition,thereareonly9pupilsoneachbustoensurethat travellingtimeiskepttoaminimum
Chaperones
OneverybusthereisanEnglishandArabicspeakingchaperonewhosesole dutyistolookafterthechildreninthebus Thechaperonewillmeeteachchild infrontoftheirhouseeachmorning,helpstoretheirschoolbags(forchildren inthe7sandbelow)andensurethattheyareproperlyseatedandwearing theirseatbelt
ThechaperonesaretrainedinChildProtection,FirstAidandEmergency Proceduresandwillremainwiththechildreninallcircumstances.Onarrivalat UC,thechildrenareescortedtotheThringDiningRoom(iftheyareDay Boardershavingbreakfast)ortotheirFormRoomsgardens Attheendofthe schoolday,childrenarehandedoverto(ormeet,inthecaseofSeniorSchool pupils)theirdesignatedchaperonewhoescortsthemtothebuses
Communicating with the Fleet Team
Beforethebeginningofeachnewterm,theFleetTeamwillinformparentsof therouteandpickuptimesforthepupils
Kindly note that Once the schedule has been set, children are required to use the bus that has been assigned to them and no further changes are permitted. This is because any change affects the timings for all children on the bus.
If parents need to collect their son or daughter at a different time on a particular day then private arrangements must be made and the School Office must be informed at least 24 hours in advance by email to schooloffice@uppinghamcairo.com.

All Pupils
Allpupilsarepickedupingoodtimetoensurethattheyarriveatschool beforeregistrationat8.20am.
TheSchoolBusdepartsschoolforallpupilsattheendoftheacademicschool day(345pm)andattheendoftheUPP&OutandUPPStart co-curricularprogrammes(445pm)eachday
Day Boarders
DayBoarders(andsiblingsofDayBoardersintheNurseryand4s)canoptfor anearliercollectioninthemornings,enablingthemtohavebreakfastat schoolfrom730am-800am
AllDayBoardershavetheoptiontotakethelatebusat7.15pm,andSenior SchoolDayBoarderscanalsotaketheeveningbusat915pmfromSundayWednesday,dependingontheirpersonalschedule
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BUS SERVICE DOES NOT OPERATE IN THE FIRST WEEK OF THE WINTER TERM, WHILE PUPILS FINALISE THEIR SCHEDULES FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR
The Buses
Our luxury buses are air conditioned, and have both radio and mobile phone links to the school Security Team Control Room to ensure quick and effective communication Amaximumof9pupilscanbeaccommodatedoneachbus
The buses are also equipped with a GPS unit which allows the Security Team and parents to track the position of the bus at 30 seconds intervals The buses arecleaneddailyandoperatedbyexperienced,qualifieddrivers
The buses are inspected and serviced once a month, with all safety equipment,FirstAidKits,FireExtinguishersandseatbeltscheckedregularly
The buses are also equipped with advanced air filtration systems to provide improvedairqualityonthebusjourney
Should a bus have any trouble, the nearest available bus will be sent to assist immediately
Bus Rules
Weexpectourchildrentobehaverespectfullyandproperlyonthebus;inthis regardthebusisconsideredtobeanextensionofschoolandtheChaperones aretrainedtomaintainorderonthebusforthesafetyofeveryone
Repeated or serious poor behaviour on the bus will be referred to the relevant HeadofSchool
Parentsofchildrenwhousethebusarerequiredtosignanundertakingthat theirchildwillabidebythefollowingexpectations:
We are courteous to the bus chaperone and driver and follow their instructions
We always wear our seat belts while on the bus, and our belts are properly adjusted

The children are allowed to listen to music with headphones, but the music must not disturb other children on the bus and any digital devices must be handed to the Security Team at the gate to be placed in a Yondr pouch, to preventuseduringtheschoolday
