Uppingham Cairo offers an efficient and reliable luxury bus service, enabling our children to travel between school and their home in Cairo in safety and comfort
With this service, parents can relax as we have highly trained professionals planning, organising, monitoring and taking immediate action to safeguard the children from any problems and ensure they are comfortable and safe at alltimes
The UC school bus service is overseen by our Fleet Manager who is based at the school, ensuring the smooth operation of the service and easy communicationwithourbususers
Pick Up and Drop Off
Pupilsarepicked-upanddroppedoffattheirhomeatthescheduledtime eachday,asadvisedbytheFleetManager
Bus Routes
Thebusroutesarescheduledtoensurethemostefficientservicetoand fromschool Routesandpickuptimesarecontinuallymonitoredtoensure thebestavailableroute.
Order of Collection and Drop Off
Thebusroutesareoperatedsothatthechildrenwhoarecollectedfirstin themorningareusuallydroppedofflastintheafternoon,andviceversa Inotherwords,thebusroutesreverseintheafternoonsandevening
Thisissothateachchildspendstheleastamountoftimeonthebus possible Inaddition,thereareonly9pupilsoneachbustoensurethat travellingtimeiskepttoaminimum
Chaperones
OneverybusthereisanEnglishandArabicspeakingchaperonewhosesole dutyistolookafterthechildreninthebus Thechaperonewillmeeteachchild infrontoftheirhouseeachmorning,helpstoretheirschoolbags(forchildren inthe7sandbelow)andensurethattheyareproperlyseatedandwearing theirseatbelt.
ThechaperonesaretrainedinChildProtection,FirstAidandEmergency Proceduresandwillremainwiththechildreninallcircumstances Onarrivalat UC,thechildrenareescortedtotheThringDiningRoom(iftheyareDay Boardershavingbreakfast)ortotheRobertJohnsonreceptionareafrom wheretheywillproceedtotheirFormRooms.Attheendoftheschoolday, childrenarehandedoverto(ormeet,inthecaseofSeniorSchoolpupils)their designatedchaperonewhoescortsthemtothebuses
Communicating with the Fleet Team
Beforethebeginningofeachnewterm,theFleetManagerwillinformparents oftherouteandpickuptimesforthepupils.

Allpupilsarepickedupingoodtimetoensurethattheyarriveatschool beforeregistrationat820am
Day Boarders
DayBoarders(andsiblingsofDayBoardersintheNurseryand4s)canoptfor anearliercollectioninthemornings,enablingthemtohavebreakfastat schoolfrom730am-800am
AllDayBoardershavetheoptiontotakethelatebusat715pm,andSenior SchoolDayBoarderscanalsotaketheeveningbusat915pmfromSundayWednesday,dependingontheirpersonalschedule
Kindly note that once the schedule has been set, children are required to use the bus that has been assigned to them and no further changes are permitted. This is because any change affects the timings for all children on the bus.
If parents need to collect their son or daughter at a different time on a particular day then private arrangements must be made and the Fleet Team must be informed at least 24 hours in advance by email to buses@uppinghamcairo.com.
The Buses
Our luxury buses are air conditioned, and have both radio and mobile phone links to the school Security Team Control Room to ensure quick and effective communication ThearealsoequippedwithCCTV
The buses are also equipped with a GPS unit which allows the Security Team and parents to track the position of the bus at 30 seconds intervals The buses arecleaneddailyandoperatedbyexperienced,qualifieddrivers
The buses are inspected and serviced once a month, with all safety equipment,FirstAidKits,FireExtinguishersandseatbeltscheckedregularly
The buses are also equipped with advanced air filtration systems to provide improvedairqualityonthebusjourney
Should a bus have any trouble, the nearest available bus will be sent to assist immediately
Bus Rules
At Uppingham Cairo, we consider the journey to and from school to be part of the school day itself, and the same standards of respect, courtesy and personal responsibility that we expect on campus apply equally to every bus journey
This Code of Conduct sets out what we ask of pupils and of parents, so that every child's journey is safe, calm and enjoyable. We ask that you read it togetherwithyourchild,andthatyoubothkeeptoitsspiritaswellasitsletter

Speakcalmlyandavoidshoutingorotherwisedistractingthedriver
Treatthechaperone,driverandfellowpupilswithcourtesy,kindnessand respect
Takecareofotherpeople'sbelongings,andavoidcausingdamageofany kindtothebus
Pupils may listen to music using headphones, provided it does not disturb others In line with school policy, personal devices are placed in the Yondr pouchonarrivalatschoolandreturnedattheendoftheday
2. Keeping Younger Pupils Safe
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do on the road, just as it is on campus
PupilsinNursery,ReceptionandLowerJuniorSchoolareonlyever releasedatdrop-offtoaparent,guardian,oranotheradultformally authorisedontheschool'ssystem
Ifnoauthorisedadultispresentatthedesignateddrop-offpoint,your childwillremainwiththechaperoneandreturntotheschoolfollowingthe completionofthebusroute Onarrivaltheywillbeplacedinthecareof thememberoftheSchoolLeadershipTeamonduty Youwillbe contactedbythebuschaperoneimmediatelytoarrangecollectionfrom school
Everychaperonecompletesregulartraininginsafeguardingandchild protection,firstaidandemergencyprocedures,includinganannual refresher
3. What We Ask of You as Parents
A safe and calm journey depends on us working together We kindly ask parentsandguardiansto:
Haveyourchildreadyatthedesignatedpick-uppointatleastfiveminutes beforethescheduledtime
LettheTransportTeamknowofanyplannedabsenceorchangetotravel arrangementsasearlyaspossible
Keepemergencycontactdetailscurrentandaccurate
Telltheschoolofanymedicalconditionorcircumstancethatmayaffect yourchildwhiletravelling
Ensurethatyoungerpupilsaremetbyanauthorisedadultatdrop-off Ifyouareunabletoreceiveyourchildatdrop-off,notifytheTransport Teambefore2:00pmthatsameday
4. If Your Child Feels Unwell on the Bus
Should a pupil feel unwell during the journey, the chaperone will contact the School Medical Team straight away for guidance and support The school will also be informed immediately, and your child will be closely monitored until safearrival.
5. Unforseen Circumstances
Should a journey be affected by matters such as a vehicle issue, traffic or weather, pupils remain under the supervision of the driver and chaperone throughout, and parents are kept informed as promptly as possible A pupil's safetyandwellbeingwillalwaystakeprecedenceoverthebusschedule.
6. Lost Property
Any items found on the bus are collected and passed to the school's Lost and Found Office Please get in touch with the office directly to check for missing belongings.
7. Upholding This Code
Because the bus is treated as an extension of school, we expect the same standard of behaviour on board as we do in the classroom and around campus. Where a pupil's conduct repeatedly or seriously falls short of this Code, the matter will be referred to the relevant Deputy Head (Pastoral), and continueduseofthebusservicemaybereviewed
