Thibaut attended an Oxford Royale summer school in 2015, where he enjoyed experiencing a di erent style of education and came to understand what was needed for him to get a place at a top UK university. He gained a degree in materials engineering at Imperial College London and rapidly went on to co-found his own company, creating innovative packaging from sustainable materials.
“My Oxford Royale course really confirmed my belief that I wanted to go to university in the UK and helped me to understand what I needed to do to get there. This decision, and studying at Oxford Royale, has been the foundation for my career; I gained a degree in Engineering from Imperial College London and then jointly founded a company. We’re developing a new edible, biodegradable material based on seaweed that is set to revolutionise the packaging industry. Learning with Oxford Royale was so enjoyable, it didn’t feel like studying at all.”

Eleonora attended an Oxford Royale summer school in 2016, where studying Physics and Academic Writing helped her grow in confidence and deepen her passion for science. She describes it as an inspiring and memorable experience that encouraged her to aim higher in her academic journey. Today, she is a PhD student in theoretical physics at the University of Oxford and the founder of Girls in STEM, a non-profit organisation empowering young women to explore careers in science and technology.
“I had always wanted to experience Oxford and was interested in pursuing physics research in the future, so mathematics and physics felt like a perfect fit. I loved the teaching – it was smaller classes which allowed for more discussions and 1:1 time with the teachers. The best part, though? The confidence I gained afterwards. Usama attended an Oxford Royale summer school in 2012 and found it to be a hugely beneficial experience, helping him to grow as a person and providing him with lots of fun and new friendships. He credits his successful application to Princeton in part to his experience with Oxford Royale, as he feels that it helped him to come across in interviews as a more rounded person, standing out from other applicants.
“Preparing my Oxford Royale application and attending the summer school was the highlight of my year. Our group had a great vibe as everybody was motivated to socialise and try new things in the short time we had together. Learning from new teachers with a di erent perspective gave me a real boost. When the time came to apply to university I had the language, knowledge and experiences to set myself apart as a serious candidate.”
Konstantinos attended Oxford Royale’s Engineering course in 2015. Hailing from a small town in Greece, this was his first taste of life as a student studying abroad. The experience enabled him to grow in confidence, and he learned new skills that would later help him during his studies at Imperial College London, one of the world’s most prestigious universities.

Bruce Windwood
TV & Film
Bruce Windwood is one of Oxford Royale’s most senior tutors, having helped design and develop its filmmaking classes.
A multi-award winning filmmaker, his credits include the internationally sold comedy feature 12InABox. He is also a commissioned writer for TV and audio, and composes soundtracks for film, audio, and TV. Bruce regularly teaches short and longform filmmaking at the National Film & TV School and Film Oxford, inspiring students to explore storytelling across visual and auditory media.
Dr Anisa Butt
Business, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Dr Anisa Butt is a lecturer in Economics at King’s College London, and completed her PhD in Economics at the University of Reading.
Anisa’s research focuses on economic inequalities, with a focus on gender and ethnic income inequality. She contributed to the book GenderInequalityintheEastern EuropeanLabourMarket, through carrying out comparative analysis on gender equality research. Anisa has taught undergraduate and A-level students, and has been a part of the Oxford Royale team for more than 3 years.
Dr Ameer Janabi
Researcher, Engineer & Entrepreneur
Dr Ameer Janabi is a researcher at the University of Cambridge and an entrepreneur in electric mobility and power electronics. He founded Hardcore Power Electronics in the United States, now partnered with FEV North America, and Cambridge Integration in the United Kingdom, which is developing integrated approaches to power electronics. Previously, he worked at Eaton Corporation on power conversion systems for electric vehicles. Ameer is a respected expert in his field and has published widely on power electronics.
Dr Claire Keene Medicine
Dr Claire Keene is a public health clinician with a Masters in International Health and Tropical Medicine from the University of Oxford. She managed an HIV and tuberculosis project for Médecins Sans Frontières in Khayelitsha, South Africa, leading the project’s COVID response in 2020. Claire is experienced in clinical trial management, programme strategy, and policy development, and developed a framework to support decision-making in neonatal healthcare services in Kenya. She continues to champion global health innovation and equitable healthcare access.

Helen Sharman is the first British Astronaut. In May 1991, she spent eight days orbiting the Earth, living and working on the MIR Space Station. Helen enthuses her audience about Space and the wonders of science, describing the meticulous training and preparation, learning Russian, the space experience, launch and landing, and adjusting to life back on Earth. Awarded both the CMG and the OBE, Helen is a full-time scientist, a pioneer and a role model and inspiration for people of all ages.

A Typical Day of Learning and Discovery
8am
The day begins with breakfast alongside your new friends, sharing stories of yesterday’s learning and activities. Morning class then opens with an inspirational guest speaker or a member of our exceptional faculty introducing an essential subject topic. Older students will attend lectures during this session, while younger groups engage in focused learning.
11am
The second lesson of the day aims to motivate students and help them explore key themes and issues, going deeper into the subject and encouraging creative thinking, debate and sharing of views.
12:30pm
Lunchtime! Students can enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends or take a walk around campus in the sunshine. Older students can venture out to explore cafés and unique eateries.
1:30pm
Back to the classroom for a practical workshop, or for some time to work on group projects. Students will get hands on in their field of study, from prepping for a mock trial, clinical skills workshops, all the way to researching for a new business proposal.

Wherever the student is attending an Oxford Royale course, there will be plenty of choice of activities, or chances to enrich their academic experience through practical sessions or project work. Perhaps they’ll take a tour of a university college, discover famous filming locations, visit a museum, soak up some culture or take part in sports and leisure activities.

Dinner at our summer schools is a time to catch up with new friends and faculty members in a di erent environment. Sometimes a relaxed and casual meal, other times a traditional formal dinner, it’s a time to share new knowledge and the fun experiences of the day.

Students in all locations enjoy evening activities on and o campus, including quiz nights, debating challenges, silent discos and organised trips such as ice-skating and ten pin bowling. At the end of a packed day, it’s time to wind down and prepare for another exciting day with Oxford Royale.

Only an hour away from London, and dating back to 1096, the University of Oxford has been home to nearly half of Britain’s 20th-century Prime Ministers, along with Nobel laureates, writers, sports stars, actors and eminent scientists. Courses for 12 to 15 Year Olds
At an Oxford Royale summer school for 12 to 15 year olds, bright young individuals embark on a remarkable transformative journey of cultural exchange, academic enrichment and personal growth. Often travelling abroad on their own for the first time, our youngest participants grow in confidence and establish their independence in an international environment. To maximise this unique opportunity for growth, they are supported all the way by our academic and pastoral sta .
Meeting peers from across the world, our younger learners forge global connections and create lifelong friendships. Through guided debate and exchange of ideas, they embrace the richness of di erent cultures and gain fresh perspectives. Outside the classroom they experience two weeks of vibrant social and cultural activities, alongside a calendar of enriching excursions to help them discover their chosen location.
Students in this age group have their intellectual curiosity ignited through techniques more interactive than those normally found in a classroom. We o er a strong educational foundation in a range of subjects not ordinarily available to students of their age, providing insights into fascinating new areas of education. Answering their natural curiosity and eagerness to learn, this taste of entirely new subjects opens up a world of exciting academic and career possibilities to consider.
As part of this huge step towards their future, our students develop critical thinking skills in an environment created by experienced educators. Life skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving, crucial at this stage of development and vital for personal and professional success, are part of every course. For 12 to 15 year olds, this will be a summer of building both confidence and a strong academic foundation, all while creating unforgettable memories with new friends from all over the world.

How to enrol
The quickest and easiest way to enrol on one of our awardwinning summer schools is via our secure booking system, available at apply.oxford-royale.com
Our online application form takes a few moments to complete and requires the name and details of the student enrolling, as well as those of the person paying the fees. All applications require selection of subject, location and dates.
We require payment of the relevant deposit at the time of booking. A credit or debit card payment is preferred, but other options are available on request.
If there is space on the chosen course, the place will be confirmed immediately by SMS and email on receipt of the deposit payment.
Login details for the Oxford Royale Portal are also sent on receipt of the deposit. The Portal is where our students manage their booking, and find all the information they’ll need for their course.
