Who is Animo?

Well ANIMO is a 22 year old rapper born and raised in northwest Mafikeng...then moved to joburg to further his studies which led him to discovering his talent in music. The word ANIMO is inspired by both my name and last name Anthony Mooketsi put together in one word. An-Anthony I- inbetween Mo-Mooketsi So basically my 1st name both last name together makes ANIMO. ANIMO makes music to uplift the youth that nothing is impossible as long as you believe and keep working hard it don't matter where you come from. I rap about what's happening In my society...women abuse, xenophobia, depression, peer pressure etc... I make music for the soul... To change and save lives.. I believe Music is one of the most influential shii ever so with that ability /skill that God blessed me with I chose to go the path of making music that could bring light to someone's life...you know what they say "with great power comes great responsibility "

Artist Interview: Animo

Who or what inspired you to be a musician? I started rapping when I was a kid when I 1st heard I'm not afraid by Eminem from that day I started having interest in Hip Hop music.. Eminem has always been my inspiration. I believe our stories are kind of similar, our background, come up and everything...he’s one of the artist I look up to.

What do you think it takes to make it in the music industry in South Africa? Simple just be real... Be you...don't try to fit in... Be creative, come up with something new/different, have your own style... Go out there and connect, make right friends and invest in your craft and value yourself because if you don't no one will.

First thing we notice when we see you is tattoos how many do you have and what do they represent? Haha I actually lost count... I'm not actually sure about the specific number of tats I have... All the tattoos on my body represent me, my past, my belief and everything I'm passionate about like music Because I also got a mic inked up on my arm. So basically I'm just telling a story on my body! Is tattoos part of the hip-hop culture? I wouldn't actually say they part of Hip Hop culture...tattoos are life reflects you as a person... But tattoos dominant in Hip Hop society... Whether yes or no can you name one rapper who doesn't have any? lol I don't think I know any rapper without a tattoo seems like the whole industry inked up.

What is your music about? Uplifting souls And sparking light to people's lives

Most people say music is a hobby not a career, who much have you made this year through music? Not really that much but I made something enough to at least afford to put bread on the table... I don't actually consider music as a hobby either a career lol... I think of it as more of a calling? I believe I was sent down here for a purpose and that's making good music for the soul.

What are your plans for the rest of the year? Drop a project I'm currently working on and also shoot a video for one of my latest single "Badbad"

1.9k followers on your Facebook page! Is there a secret you can share with upcoming artist that can help them reach 19k followers? Simple... Consistency, post up every day, invest in your shii get professionals to shoot you and post up high quality pictures on net...in that way people will take you more seriously...both promoters...no one wants to put up a whack low quality picture on the poster.

Where can people get your music? On all digital stores
