Doctors with Houston Methodist Primary Care Group say having a good relationship with a primary care physician you trust is an important step in managing your health.

H

ow long has it been since you’ve seen your doctor? “If your answer is more than a year, that’s too long,” said Margaret Umah, M.D., board-certified family medicine specialist with Houston Methodist Primary Care Group in Sugar Land.

Developing an ongoing relationship with a primary care physician – and seeing that doctor at least once a year – is key to a healthy life. “A doctor who knows you – who understands your health history, your family status and your lifestyle – is invaluable,” said Umah. “I can usually tell within a few minutes of seeing my patients how they are doing physically and emotionally because I know their backgrounds.

Having a trusting relationship with a physician who sees you regularly can make all the difference in your health outcomes.” A primary care physician is typically the first point of contact for patients’ health care needs. Primary care physicians can be internists, family medicine specialists or pediatricians for children and teens. There are three main benefits of seeing your doctor regularly:

Benefit No. 1: Improved quality of care Patients who see their primary care physician for annual checkups typically have better preventive care because they are regularly screened for common health issues such as high blood pressure

or high cholesterol, diabetes, weight gain and more. “We’re trained to notice subtle changes 290 in our patients’ health, and since we have a trendline over several visits, we can spot potential issues long before they become a chronic problem,” said Jewel Lincoln, D.O., board-certified family medicine specialist with Houston Methodist Primary 99 Care Group in Sienna Plantation. If you have a chronic condition, your primary care physician can help you monitor and manage your symptoms to prevent more serious complications. “Many times I’ll see a patient with a chronic condition and after talking it through with them, I discover that our treatment plan isn’t working as well as it did previously,” said Johneca Broussard, D.O., board-certified

Together, we can develop a revised plan and follow-up if necessary. That doesn’t happen if you see a 249 different doctor each time or just go to urgent care when you are sick –8or even avoid the doctor altogether.”

“The best way to overcome those feelings is to find a primary care doctor whom you like and trust,” said Umah. “Your doctor wants the best for you and sometimes that means addressing tough 610

issues. When you have a relationship, it’s much easier to see your physician as an ally who is there to help.”

Specialty primary care for active people

An added benefit: Once you see your primary care physician, the office will keep track of your visits and remind you when it’s time for check-ups and screenings. One less thing to worry about!

People who participate in sports and exercise often have unique health care needs. That’s why one of the fastest growing specialties in health care today is primary care sports medicine – primary care physicians who also have the training, knowledge and expertise to treat the typical injuries and issues that can accompany an active lifestyle.

And should you need a referral to a specialist, your primary care physician will be able to easily find the right match for both your personality and your health needs.

Benefit No. 3: Reduced costs Your primary care physician can catch issues before they become serious, which helps keep costs low. “A lot of people don’t realize that their annual physicals are almost always covered by insurance,” said Umah. “That’s because insurance companies recognize the importance of regular check-ups and preventive care.” A single untreated issue can eventually lead to multiple complex procedures and lengthy hospital stays. Seeing your doctor regularly is one of the best ways to take control of health problems before they become serious and require extensive – and costly – intervention.

Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Sugar Land has three primary care sports medicine specialists on staff, conveniently located throughout Fort Bend County. Nish L. Shah, M.D., David A. Braunreiter, M.D., and Nader A. Ayub, D.O., specialize in treating everyday illnesses as well as sports-related injuries and orthopedic conditions for children and adults. “Our patients come from a wide variety of backgrounds,” said Shah, board-certified primary care sports medicine specialist at Houston Methodist Primary Care Group in Long Meadow Farms. “Many are teens who play school or club sports, and of course we also treat adults who enjoy tennis, golf, running or other activities, and even some patients who simply have orthopedic issues. Our goal is to help our patients manage their overall health so they can remain as active as they desire.”

Like their family medicine counterparts, the primary care sports medicine specialists at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine also help patients manage chronic illnesses, such as asthma, arthritis and diabetes. “Patients with a chronic illness often find that their activity levels are diminished due to struggles with symptoms, and that can be detrimental to their health goals,” said Shah. “The same is true of patients with orthopedic issues, such as back, knee and hip problems. We create treatment plans that help patients better manage their illnesses or conditions so that they have the energy, strength and mobility they need to participate in their daily routines.”

We’re here when you need us We have 21 board-certified physicians providing personalized, compassionate medical care for individuals of all ages and all needs in seven Fort Bend County offices. “Your primary care physician plays an important role in helping you lead a happy, healthy life,” said Umah. “Find someone you feel comfortable with and make a point of going at least once a year. It will give you a feeling of confidence to know that you have someone on your side.”

A Team of Specialists Committed to You. Primary Care Sports Medicine physicians, Dr. Nader Ayub, Dr. David Braunreiter and Dr. Nish Shah, specialize in treating everyday illnesses as well as sports injuries, concussion management and orthopedic conditions in children and adults. These physicians can also help manage chronic conditions, such as asthma, arthritis or diabetes, as well as help you lead a healthier lifestyle. You do not have to be an athlete to benefit from their expertise.

he first time Natacha Kluft came to the United States it was on a tennis scholarship to Northern Illinois University. That was long before cell phones and computers made international communication so easy and affordable. While at school, Natacha could only talk to her mother in Antwerp, Belgium every two weeks and for only three minutes per call. Fast forward to May 2018 when Natacha returned to the United States with her husband, Christophe Gregoir. The couple moved to Sugar Land when Christophe’s employer, voestalpine Böhler Welding, transferred him to manage a project in the area. Married for almost thirty years, they have three grown children who remain in Europe and they communicate easily with them on a regular basis. Still in love with tennis, Natacha has not only made new friends here through the sport...she joined a tennis league. Last year, her team won the state championship in their division and went on to compete at the nationals in Phoenix. While practicing and making plans for her tournaments, Natacha was also monitoring the condition of her varicose veins. Committed to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, Natacha was looking for a vascular surgeon she could trust. It was her dentist, Dr. Holly Doffing, who recommended Dr. Baltazar. Coincidentally, several of Dr. Doffing’s patients were patients of Dr. Baltazar and they all had good things to say about him. Dr. Ulises Baltazar is a highly regarded vein specialist. He has extensive experience working with conditions resulting from issues of the circulatory system and is a leader in his field. Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery, Dr. Baltazar is a member of Houston Methodist Cardiovascular Surgery Associates’ Sugar Land Vein Clinic—a practice dedicated exclusively to the treatment of venous insufficiency. “It was a good visit with Dr. Baltazar,” says Natacha. “He has a sense of humor that helps you relax. He gained my confidence right away.” With Dr. Baltazar’s approval, Natacha was able to schedule her surgery after nationals so her recovery would not interfere with her performance. Natacha had her first surgery for varicose veins in Belgium when she was only 18 and a second surgery at about 30. She says, “I was familiar with the procedure, so when Dr. Baltazar explained everything, I knew he was going to do a good job. And now I can say, I would surely recommend him. He is top of my list!” With Dr. Baltazar’s help, Natacha is not only able continue to play tennis, she will be teaching tennis as well. She looks forward to being able to offer private lessons.

Imagine Endless Amounts

of Hot Water! W

hen you think of tanks, usually the first image that pops into your head is a heavily armored fighting vehicle or maybe a sleeveless T-shirt. Most people don’t associate that word with tankless water heaters, but once they know what they are—and more importantly, what they can do—everyone’s a believer! “Tankless water heaters mean endless hot water,” says Master Plumber Luke Burkhalter of Alan’s Plumbing. “Don’t get me wrong— I still love a standard tank. If you want to keep it simple, replace a tank with a tank. We like the ones made by Rheem, and our standard installation includes removing your old equipment and replacing all the parts surrounding it, including the pan, water lines, and gas line.” “But if you want limitless hot water, a tankless water heater like the 240A Navien is the way to go. It’s the equivalent of replacing two tanks. Think about what this could mean for you and your family. No more getting blasted in the face with cold water when you’re the second one in the shower. And no more busted hot water heaters.”

by Olivia Cane

At Alan’s Plumbing, a standard tankless installation includes a recirculating pump and a descaler filter, which neutralizes that hardgrain water and prevents scale build up, prolonging the life of your pipes. The recirculating pump increases your hot water response time so you don’t have to stand there stewing while you wait for the water to run hot. “If you want to improve your hot water standards,” continues Luke, “go with a tankless hot water system. It’s endless hot water, you never run out. That means filling your bathtub all the way up without the water going cold. It means back-to-back showers while you’re using the dishwasher.” Everyone at Alan’s Plumbing is fully licensed to install and maintain all tankless (and tank) water heaters. This dynamic team includes Luke’s dad, owner and Master Plumber Alan Burkhalter. His Uncle Chris is also a master plumber, his brother Beau is journeyman-licensed and studying for his master plumber license, and his brother Jake (recently engaged to Becca Long!) is an apprentice close to his journeyman license. Their mom Jennifer, Luke’s wife Chelsea,

and Katie Johnson answer the phones. The addition of journeyman-licensed plumber Jeff Johnson and apprentices Jaime, Trevor and Christian make this the best and most trusted plumbing company in town. “When it comes to anything water-related, we’ve got you covered.” What Luke doesn’t recommend is attempting to install a hot water system yourself. “This isn’t a do-it-yourself project or a side job,” he says. “A smart consumer is an informed one. We explain everything to our customers and operate along the principles of transparent pricing. So much of our business is word-of-mouth, and that’s the kind of trust that inspires us to give you the best service, best prices, and best products. Give us a call for a free estimate on a tankless water heater switchover.”

“W

e use the word ‘community’ a lot around here,” say Jeff and Tiffany Sebastian, owners of Classic Chevy Sugar Land and Classic Chevy Highway 6. “It means more than your address or your location on Google Maps. Here in Fort Bend, we share the kind of local community that means fellowship and working together towards common goals. Many of us are parents, so we actively support local schools and sports teams. Being a good neighbor means reaching out a helping hand whenever we can... to support causes including literacy, food banks, our local law enforcement, shelters, and other organizations that make our world a better place.” During a recent tour of East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry (EFBHNM), Tiffany was taken aback by the outpouring of love and support for this community stemming from a tiny spot on the map in Stafford. Since its founding in 1990, EFBHMN has been serving the basic human needs of families in our community in temporary financial crisis. Tiffany says, “What really surprised me? This is not your typical food pantry. In addition to food staples, families in temporary crisis receive fresh produce, hygiene products and diapers. And I was touched to learn that if a kid in the family has a birthday, they also receive a Birthday Bag—complete with a toy and a cake!” Recognizing that basic human needs include more than food, the Financial

Mystic Meadows Pony Rescue drove eight hours to rescue Tuffy. Today, Tuffy is living his best life right here in Fort Bend County! Local Jackson Air and Heat owner Brian Jackson and his wife Gina generously took Tuffy into their home as a foster. The Jacksons are in love, and Tuffy has become their little sidekick. Brian says, “It’s a joy and an honor to ‘co-parent’ Tuffy along with Mystic Meadows. Tuffy is so small, he can ride in the cab of my truck with me. He’s the newest Jackson Air and Heat mascot!” And Tuffy takes that position seriously. Tuffy knows these cool days fade quickly and summer will be here before we know it. Tuffy asks everyone, “Have you scheduled your AC tune up yet?” “It’s a great question,” explains Brian. “Because the best time to do a tune up is now, before the real hot weather hits. We make sure all of your equipment is operating as safely and efficiently as possible. We check to see that there’s enough

refrigerant, check to see that the coils and drains are clean, check motors and controls, and a whole list of other things that can only be done by a professional.” If you’ve been struggling to air condition your house summer after summer, Tuffy and Brian tell us it might be time to consider replacing your unit with a brand new Trane XV20i Variable Speed air conditioning unit with TruComfort® technology. Brian says, “Trane units air condition the modern way. That means eliminating hot spots, running far more efficiently, and drastically lowering your energy bills. It’s what Gina, Tuffy and I enjoy at our own home. Better yet, for the month of March we’ll donate $50 to Mystic Meadows for every system we install. You may also be eligible for 0% financing or instant rebates!” Tuffy says, “Stop horsing around. Get your AC checked today!” Mystic Meadows Pony Rescue and Therapy Ponies Mystic Meadows is a pony rescue that rehabilitates ponies and horses, and then retrains them to provide emotional therapy to children and adults who are ill, disabled or traumatized. They’ve brought many, many ponies back from

debilitating injuries or the brink of starvation. Everything they do is free of charge, so that everyone can afford their therapy and behavioral services. Mystic Meadows is funded entirely by donations. The facility is currently four horses over capacity, and hay and feed expenses are staggering. Mystic Meadows is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. veryone knows the saying, “Time is money,” but it can also be so much more! Time is the memories you make with your kids, the extra conversation you can have with your spouse at the end of the day, the difference between a good night’s sleep and constant exhaustion. Save your energy for the thing you have to do (like work!) and your DIY-impulse for the things you love to do. As for cleaning your house...leave it to the professionals! Imelda Mahoney, our local cleaning expert and owner of Mahoney’s House Cleaning, says, “Our maids are highly-trained and always motivated to get your home sparkling clean!” When you try to squeeze cleaning your house into an already full schedule, you only get a little bit done each day. By the time you get to the end, it’s time to clean the beginning again! “Getting your whole home professionally cleaned on a regular schedule keeps everything at a higher level,” says co-owner Casandra. “You can enjoy time with your family, knowing that a simple swipe of the counters is all you need to have a company-ready home. Our maids will really sanitize your bathrooms, scrub your sink, and dust your ceiling fans. Not only that, but like all true professionals, our employees are bonded and insured, arrive in a company car with uniforms, and work to your satisfaction!” Don’t sweat and stress to clean your house. Relax...and leave it to the professionals!

Imelda’s Insight Did your teenager forget to cover a bowl of queso in the microwave? Maybe a baked potato or a bowl of pasta and sauce exploded all over the inside. Don’t despair! Imelda says, “Before cleaning the microwave, get a small glass or a bowl of cold water, add a few drops of lemon juice and microwave at full power for about five minutes. The steam from the water helps loosen dried food and the lemon juice helps cut through grease...and odors. Remove the glass or bowl (be careful, it’s hot!) and wipe down the inside with a solution of white vinegar and water or your favorite non-toxic cleanser.”

ary and Donald Carey lived in their Delaware home for 46 years. “We got to where we needed help,” says Mary. “We hired people, but it wasn’t working. They were constantly on their cell phones or watching TV. Our son Kevin found Inspired Living at Sugar Land near his home here in Texas. He told us it was time to let him and our other son Brian help make decisions, and that this was the place to go. We took his word for it.” Last Thanksgiving, the Careys celebrated at the family home in Delaware. Then they packed up their most valuable memories and moved to Sugar Land. “We had never even seen the place,” says Mary. “When I walked in, I cried like a baby. I was not a happy camper. That first week was hard, then each week got better. Now we are very happy here!” The Careys live in a two bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. Mary says, “I no longer cook, clean

or do laundry. It’s all taken care of. We are rarely in our room. We love all of the planned activities, and the food in the dining room is wonderful. The only groceries I buy are snacks for us and the grandkids. The only thing I cook is microwave popcorn. I also don’t drive. I could have a car if I wanted, but I doubt I ever will. The shuttles here take you door to door to wherever you want to go. On Sundays, Kevin and his family pick us up and we go to church and out to eat. Our grandkids love visiting us here! We play games and sometimes they spend the night. Donald and I realize how blessed we are. We are grateful to have a place like this and a family that loves us and wants what’s best for us. I’m now convinced that this is the right place for us.” Are you looking for a place for mom and dad? ady is a Sphynx cat. A patient of Dr. Mary McCaine, the feline specialist at Lake Olympia Animal Hospital, Lady is medicated for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy—a genetic disease that is common in Sphynx cats. Her owner, Maddy Beil, says, “Lady’s heart medication is a prescription pill that is super tiny...and the pill has to be cut in fourths! I tried a pill cutter, and I would get big chunks and little chunks. A ton went to waste as I tried to give Lady the correct dosage.” Maddy had heard local Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy compounded medications for humans as well as pets. What exactly is compounding? Dr. Lance Campbell, Pharm.D., R.Ph., founder of Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy, explains, “It’s a pharmacist’s method of preparing customized medications for patients, including pets. Animals

often have the same diseases as humans, including skin rashes, eye and ear infections, and cancer. Pets may also have anxiety from thunderstorms or cardiovascular diseases. Animals can be very difficult to treat with medications. As Maddy experienced, sometimes tiny pills need splitting. In other cases, finicky pets who refuse to take medication based on taste or texture are perfect candidates for compounding.” The pharmacists at Campbell’s work closely with your veterinarian to compound the best treatment for your pet. “Whether your pet is a dog, cat, horse, bird, guinea pig, or hamster,” continues Dr. Campbell, “vets know how important it is to create medicines in easy-to-give flavored forms that pets are willing to take. everything ONE WEEK THAT CHANGED

by Amy Sharp

T

he current sermon series at Sugar Land Baptist Church, entitled “One Week That Changed Everything,” takes a closer look at the last week of Jesus’s life here on earth. Senior Pastor Dr. Taylor Sandlin says, “For these six weeks prior to Easter, we are focusing on Christ’s earthly ministry and helping people prepare their hearts and souls for the celebration of Easter.” During Holy Week, the opportunities to ponder what Christ has done for mankind are even more plentiful. “The Stations of the Cross and our Good Friday service are both meaningful ways to reflect upon Jesus’s crucifixion,” continues Taylor. “Our Maundy takes place around a table and includes supper. And because we also love the fun of the season, we host the popular Easter Eggstravangza on Palm Sunday.” The highlight of the Christian year, Easter Sunday, kicks off with a sunrise service at 7am on the east lawn. “This is an intimate service and we serve breakfast afterward,” says Taylor. “We also begin the ‘Flowering of the Cross’ at this service. We place a cross at each entrance to the church, and our congregation brings cut flowers to decorate it. By the end of the second Easter Sunday service, it’s a beautiful symbol of resurrection and a great spot to take photos!” While the sunrise service is intimate, the 9:45am Easter Sunday service at Sugar Land Baptist Church is a huge celebration. “This stirring service includes a full orchestra and a choir of about 100 people. Easter is a beautiful reminder that our ultimate worth comes in not what we do, but what God has done for us. The two Easter services have different sermons and songs, and some people come to both. We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate our faith in the resurrection!”

Quality of Life Restored by Amy Sharp

A

year ago, private investigator Angelica Lopez described her well-being as a “hot mess.” “I had horrible depression and anxiety. I was unable to fall asleep, and unable to stay asleep. I was experiencing weight gain and hair loss. I had cold hands and feet, GI issues, bloating and inflammation. My periods were heavy and painful, and I had achy muscles and joints. I was experiencing memory loss and a decrease in sharpness. I was a walking zombie. My job requires me to be on my A game, and I wasn’t. I had to take a two month leave of absence.” Seven different physicians told Angelica there was nothing wrong with her. Desperate, Angelica started seeking non-Western medicine alternatives. She discovered primary care physician and founder of Balanced Body Functional Medicine, Dr. Julia Ward. Functional medicine is a more holistic approach to health, where the physician looks for the root causes of your symptoms, instead of just treating them with a prescription. Through a series of tests not typically administered in traditional medicine, Dr. Ward determined Angelica was suffering from stage 4 adrenal fatigue. She created a curriculum for Angelica to achieve optimal health. “My comprehensive program included healthy eating, sleep habits, how to deal with stress, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. I also had access to Dr. Ward’s wealth of information on her online portal, and weekly calls and monthly meetings with her in-house nutritionist, Karen. And to my surprise, I was also given Dr. Ward’s email address and cell phone number. I could contact her personally any time I had a question.” Eight months later, Angelica has restored happiness and energy. “I’ve lost weight, and I feel energized all day long. I sleep soundly through the night. My hair is growing back, and I don’t need naps anymore. My skin is glowing. I have a clear mind, my memory is sharp, and my focus is exceptional. My quality of life has been restored...I feel alive!” “Dr. Ward and her staff are exceptional, professional, loving and wonderful,” adds Angelica. “I can’t begin to tell you how many people I’ve sent over there!”

LUPE’S SIGNATURE SAZÓN by Amy Sharp

F

or nearly 17 years, Lupe Garcia has created and perfected the uniquely fresh recipes served at Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant. We asked her husband Jaime what makes Lupe’s food so good? “It’s Lupe’s signature sazón!” Jaime told us. “Sazón is what makes from-scratch food have a special flavor.” So we went out in search of “sazón.” It turns out there is no English equivalent. The Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy defines sazón as “the state of perfection in its line.” In other words, sazón suggests the ability of a cook to approximate the ideal, the moment of perfection. And we agree, Lupe’s food is sheer perfection! Lucky for us, Lupe’s at it again. She’s added a heaping dash of her signature sazón to two new menu items: The Mucho Grande Gringa Enchilada and The Taco Veggie! The Mucho Grande Gringa Enchilada starts with a big-as-your-plate, made-from-scratch and perfectly freckled Lupita’s flour tortilla. That tortilla is then stuffed with seasoned shredded chicken, rolled, doused in Lupita’s special gravy, and then smothered in monterey jack cheese. What’s in that gravy you ask? It’s chicken-based with red bell peppers and onions sauteed in butter, fresh garlic, cumin and chili powder. Is your mouth watering yet? Then check out the Taco Veggie—a taco chock-full of “meaty” portobello mushrooms with zucchini and squash, and served with a side of guacamole and pico de gallo. Perfection! Lupita’s has been voted “Best Tex-Mex” in Fort Bend County multiple times. For several years in a row, they’ve earned a spot on food critic Allison Cook’s prestigious Houston Chronicle Top 100 Restaurants list. Houston Press awarded Lupita’s “Best Neighborhood Spot in Sugar Land.” This authentic Tex-Mex taste is perfect for lunch with friends, happy hour after work, and dinner with the family. Jaime says, “Thank you again to Sugar Land, Fort Bend, and even Houston for your continued friendship and support. It means the world to us that we can share Lupe’s sazón with all of you. We’ll see you soon!”

Pain Management

S

by Amy Sharp

t. Michael’s Elite Hospital welcomes Nelson Bond, MD as a credentialed physician in pain management. CEO Don Vickers says, “Dr. Bond and his practice, BACAS Interventional Pain Management, are established and highly successful in the Houston area. We are thrilled to have a clinic right here in Sugar Land at St. Michael’s.” With an extensive background in internal medicine, critical care and trauma, Dr. Bond is uniquely qualified to practice pain management. His vision of pain is that there’s always an identifiable cause and an effective treatment. “This is not medicine management,” says Dr. Bond. “We

treat your pain interventionally, get you off the pain meds. With products like stem cells the science has moved to the molecular side, and with innovation like fluoroscopy the technology is keeping up. Our micro-procedures have successfully treated migraines, pelvic and abdominal pain, cancer pain, and all joints (knees, hips, shoulders, ankles, etc.). We are able to eliminate many unnecessary back and knee surgeries. With knees and backs especially, many people are misled. They are told to live with the pain or have surgery. That is not true. We can help! Stem cell therapy is also an effective treatment for Lou Gehrig’s disease, Alzheimer’s,

cerebral palsy and fibromyalgia.” Recognizing that professional athletes, firemen, policemen and military personnel are prone to chronic inflammation, Dr. Bond has developed a program called “RESET” for these individuals. “In the off season, athletes do not have time to fully recover,” says Dr. Bond. “So their injuries continue to ‘stack’ on top of each other. This program takes them back to ground zero in the off season (or anytime for civil and military servants), ‘resetting” their bodies to optimal performance condition. The RESET program combines our standard interventional treatment plan with diet plans, health and wellness packages, and physical training.” Who can see Dr. Bond? Anyone! Dr. Bond says, “If you are in any kind of pain or dependent on pain meds, you are a candidate. Our goal is to manage, reduce or eliminate pain, so you can live, work, and play again without pain. You are not too old or too young. We start seeing arthritis and chronic inflammation in kids as young as 12. It’s important to get fixed whole while you are young, then by high school be integrated into a full athletic program that includes diet and physical training.” Dr. Bond’s clinic is located in St. Michael’s Elite Hospital Building B. the peace of mind that everything is taken care of when the time comes.” If you have no legal paperwork to check and organize, you should move creating an estate plan to the very top of your spring “to do” list. “Life changes fast,” explains Margie. “Creating an estate plan simply means putting a plan in place

to take care of your loved ones, a plan for the distribution of your assets, and a plan to instruct loved ones on your wishes. I understand why maybe you haven’t done this yet. No one wants to contemplate their own mortality. Maybe you feel that in the context of death, questions about who gets what seem trivial. But your loved ones will have to address those questions when you’re gone, and with a will and basic documents in place, you can save them loads of aggravation and unnecessary expense. You’ll also feel a great sense of relief once these documents are in place. I promise!” If you have any questions or your legal paperwork requires updating, give Margie a call. ee Unique has been a Rosenberg establishment for nearly 40 years. Two years ago, business partners Sean Foley and Karen Obmaces bought the business, revamped it, and moved it across the street. One unexpected find: the original building was infested with mice. Sean says, “I grew up with Chris Millward at BUGCO Pest Control. Chris had been doing pest control for my parents for years, so I called him to look at the problem. He took care of it.” Sean and his wife contacted BUGCO again for a termite inspection before they purchased their home. “The team was extremely knowledgeable,” says Sean. “They were able to determine from holes in the deck and stickers left by a pest company that the house had been treated for termites before and what had been done. After living in the home awhile, we discovered a mouse in the kitchen. We back up to a creek, so it wasn’t unexpected. But I also wasn’t sure what to do that was safe for my dogs and my daughter...so I called on BUGCO again. Today, we’re on their quarterly maintenance plan. They always

call or text to schedule a good time to be at the house. These crews are presentable, reliable and extremely responsive. I recommend no one but BUGCO.” Locally-owned and operated by Chris Millward and John Onofrey, BUGCO provides treatment options for general pest control, roaches, termites, fire ants, bed bugs, fleas, ticks and rodents both commercially and residentially. With summer almost here, BUGCO also has strategies for controlling mosquitoes, including installation and maintenance of mosquito misting systems, In2Care mosquito traps, and truck and backpack fogging. When the BUGCO crews arrive at your house, they’ll be wearing shirts and hats specially made by Bee Unique. “Apparel is our specialty,” says Sean. “Embroider, screenprint, direct-to-garment and sublimation. Intrigued, she scheduled a consultation. Ultimate Beauty Skin Rejuvenation & Body Contouring is locally owned by retired Houston Police Lieutenant Joslyn M. Johnson. Joslyn says, “‘Ultimate Look’ is a three step state-of-the-art radio frequency, cellulite and fat reduction system. The three steps consist of targeted fat and cellulite loss with ‘Lipo Sculpt Lite, Ultrasonic Cavitation,’ and skin tightening with ‘Therma-Lift.’ This technology is like none other in Texas. It’s perfect for stubborn bellies! Plus, all procedures are non-invasive and absolutely pain free, with zero down time.” Elizabeth describes her consultation with Joslyn as friendly and welcoming. “Joslyn is very comfortable to be around. She described to me exactly what the treatment entailed. I could have started treatment that very same day, but I opted to schedule to come back in a few days. I’ve now done five treatments. They last about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes, and they are very relaxing. There is no pain at all. It’s almost like a massage.” “I’ve definitely experienced change,” continues Elizabeth. “My pooch is shrinking, and the loose skin has visibly tightened up quite a bit. The results are gradual, and seem more natural, which I like. I didn’t want to look one way one day and completely different the next day. Based on my progress, I’m confident I will have max results at the end of my recommended 10 treatments. My before and after pictures will be quite a sight by the end!”

“I do recommend Ultimate Beauty. In fact, I recommended Joslyn to my sister right after my first treatment. My sister has started treatments as well, and she is also noting results. We compare stomachs every day!” Ultimate Beauty Skin Rejuvenation & Body Contouring 832-886-0700 Located in Tuscany Village Salons 4807 Highway 6 #17 Missouri City TX, 77459 Ultimatebeautysr@gmail.com www.ultimatebeautyskinandbody.com

Let Us Help You, Too. DISC PROBLEMS

CAR ACCIDENTS

I was skeptical, but a friend recommended it. I was impressed that they wanted to understand my condition and make a personalized plan to help my disc problems, and they did.

BACK PAIN

I got in a major car accident which gave me a lingering headache. I’m a mom, student and I work, I don’t have time for pain. SLHC gave me relief and the encouragement I needed.

NUMBNESS I’ve always been athletic but as I got older I found myself hunched over. My back began to really bother me so I got treatment. I feel so good I don’t know why I didn’t go sooner.

HEADACHES

My leg was numb for years because of a herniated disc in my back. My treatment at SLHC helped so much that there was a noticeable improvement on my follow-up MRI.

SURGICAL CASES I had a constant headache from an injury I got at 5 years old attempting a flip on the bed. I’m so thankful for SLHC for giving me my life back.

NUTRITION

I had 3 surgeries done in my ankle from an accident and used to walk with a limp. Now I’m walking without trouble or pain and for longer periods of time.

SCIATICA I had intense pain shooting down my leg. I got more than just relief, I learned about nutrition & how to maintain health.

I’m a healthy guy, but I woke up one night to intense sciatica pain that made it hard to walk. SLHC gave me rapid results! I highly recommend them.
