“Whatever you do in this life, it’s not legendary unless your friends are there to see it.” – Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother
We live in a time where every adventure, accomplishment, discovery, or even a new favorite dish is commemorated with a selfie and an online post. Some do it to gain likes, to brag, to impress their boss, or to update friends on what they’re up to in life. But whatever the reason may be, people do it because they yearn to share their experiences with the world.

Aggregates Redefined: Reaching Out at Twenty-nine
SIEVED
REINFORCED
TESTED
This year has been interesting for the organization with the academic calendar shift in the university significantly affecting the organization’s existing activities and operations. Keeping an untraditional and bolder mindset, the Board of Directors wanted to take Aggregates to new heights on its 29th year and so a vision to become a more relevant organization was born. Through the years, UP Aggregates, Inc. performance as an organization has progressed tremendously and is continually growing to achieve greater success. On its 29th year, the UP Aggregates, Incorporated envisions itself to be bolder and more impactful by guiding its members to be dedicated and competent so that they may proactively engage in serviceoriented projects that help develop the nation with Engineers as the catalyst of change.
Website Launch Celebrating Aggre month on July this year was not as easy as it was before. There was no planned lineup of events for the month; moreover, putting up an exhibit on the Engineering Lobby would’ve been tedious and meaningless since there were no more classes by then. Due to these reasons, we decided to celebrate Aggre month in a place where more non-Aggre friends would be able to celebrate with us – that is, online.

A series of teasers was posted starting July 1, building up the anticipation for our 29th anniversary on July 21. Along with the reveal of this year’s theme, “Aggregates Redefined: Reaching Out at Twenty-nine”, the new home of Aggre was also launched. With the combined efforts of the Board of Directors and the Committee for Press and Publicity, the website of Aggre was unveiled to the public, and the goal of engaging more people to celebrate with us was met. See it for yourself. Visit our new home at upaggregatesinc.org.
29th Anniversary Dinner The first general meeting of the UP Aggregates Inc. this semester was held last August 7, 2014 alongside with a dinner in celebration of its 29th Anniversary as an organization. The members had a simple and sweet, although late, anniversary dinner at the Shakey’s Eton Centris. We also had a sneak peek of what the committees and event steering committees haprepared for the organization during the four-month break. We were also able to know where the Board of Directors planned to lead Aggregates.

UP-PUP Aggregates Friendly Games Living by the motto: Sieved, Reinforced, Tested; as Aggre members, we make sure that we are also bonded with our friends from other universities and most especially our family org from another University, and that is the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Aggregates. PUP-Aggre invited UP Aggregates Inc. to their home university to participate in their organized mini Sportsfest. This activity made the members of UP-Aggre together with PUP-Aggre exercise sportsmanship and develop teamwork through different physical games. The games played by both teams were patintero, dodgeball, and volleyball. UP-Aggre won the patintero and dodge ball games against PUP-Aggre, but by the time they played volleyball, the teams were merged to balance out the players for both teams. PUP-Aggre sponsored a lunch meal to fill the empty stomachs of UP-Aggre members after a series of physical games played. Unfortunately, the basketball game was cancelled due to the fact that the event was supposed to last for one day only. Both parties seemed passionate in their games when playing while having fun at the same time. After the games and chatting with PUP-Aggre friends, PUP-Aggre awarded UP-Aggre a certificate of participation for proof that UPAggre took part and played in their Sportsfest. This event is one step closer to creating stronger bonds between PUP and UP Aggre members. If given the chance, the players from UP-Aggre who participated from the Sportsfest would also like invite the players from PUP-Aggre to play in UP Diliman some other time.

Ultimate Bonding Experience Sem-starter August 21, 2014 – University of the Philippines Aggregates Inc. held its very first Ultimate Bonding Experience, also called UBE, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. UBE 1 was also a sem-starter activity and were mostly fun games and team building activities to the develop camaraderie and teamwork of Aggre members and expose them to task that require leadership skills and creativity. The activities also test task endurance and decision-making skills of the members depending on the situation. To start the event, the Committee for Internal Affairs divided the number of members present into 3 teams with 1-2 members from the committee accompanying each team. The teams are to remain for the duration of the day. Prior to the start of the main event, the teams had to shout their team’s cheer as a tradition in most team building activities. The first part of the activity was an errand achievement game which ranges from taking creative pictures in different venues to presenting ridiculous videos. The end results of this task was hilarious and was able to set the light mood for the day. The task was tiresome and every member was calling for food, so we ate a certain fast food then continued to the next part of the event. The second part was a decision making game with a twist since the team will have to defend by giving a reason on their supposedly team decision. The purpose of this game was to develop decision making skills as a team and not as an individual. Right after the second was the third game wherein the team has to make a machine using the body parts of the members only and no props. The purpose then of this activity was implement the kind of thinking that anything ‘big’ is always composed of something smaller. In this scenario, the individual members making the machine are the smaller ‘components’ creating the machine. Overall, the event was a stress reliever since it looked like all the teams had fun in the company of each other. These kinds of games become useful in academic related activities, especially in projects and presentations. At the end of the day, almost everybody was physically and mentally exhausted and had to take the day off after an exciting day.
Charity Program Just like the first Ultimate Bonding Experience last August 2014, the second UBE was a charity program that aimed to create a bonding activity for the members, have a break from academic and leadership experiences, and to be able to reach out and give back to the community while doing something worthwhile. It was like taking a break from acads for a cause. The event was done in cooperation with the Sisters from the Church of the Holy Sacrifice and was

Then there was story-telling activity for the children followed by a feeding program which catered the need for food of the children after the tedious games. At the end of the day, all children who participated in the activity were given free school supplies, composed of one notebook and a pencil to aid the children in their schooling and to make sure that the lack of school supplies does not hinder the schooling of the children who are our future. Quoted from an Aggre member: “I never thought that I would be able to do something as fulfilling as this. Holding an event like this required much time and effort, but seeing all those kids smile and hearing their heartfelt ‘Thank You,’ it was then that I realized that it was worth it.” The things planned to be done in the event were followed and it was pretty cool to see the smiling faces of innocent children reflecting their happiness and gratitude through facial gestures.

Event Handling Last October 28, 2014, the Professionals and Alumni Relations Committee conducted the second Professional Development Seminar entitled, “Event Handling“. The speakers were the overall heads of Aggre’s major events this academic year. They are Ma. Jhubhel dela Cruz (CE Talk), Ephraim Inong (Photofest), and Cindy Cuarto/Aiah Urrea (ES Quiz). The speakers covered the responsibilities of the steering committee. They also tackled the different challenges that they were faced to during the planning stage and as well as during the event per se, and how they were able to overcome it. In line with the first seminar which has the theme “Step Up. Take the Initiative. Take the Lead.” the speakers also encouraged the members to step up and to eventually become the future heads of the organization’s events. Applicants’ Orientation It was time again to find new members for our organization so we held an orientation for the aspiring applicants last September 9, 2014 headed by the Committee of Applications. It was held at Melchor Hall 501. The orientation had the title “Soar to New Heights” with the caption “We continue to CLIMB. We take that LEAP. We strive to SOAR. SOAR HIGH!”. Each member had their profile pictures in Facebook changed to their respective photos promoting the Applicants’ Orientation. The orientation was attended by more than 60 applicants. Games were held to bond the future co-apps and inspirational talks were given by our adviser, Sir Raniel Suiza, and some of our alumni. The application process was also explained to the potential applicants in detail.
Komon Kain Some of the Aggre members and 14A applicants (then officially called the 50 Shades Aggrey), had the chance to interact at the Komon Kain held on September 26 at Jollibee Katipunan. Most of them sang and danced, while the other applicants entertained the audience with well-rehearsed skits. Aside from the awesome performances, the way they handled the program (not to mention the food), was beyond everyone’s expectations.
For their final performance, they performed their batch song. It was really touching because they composed the song especially for the members. Definitely, at the end of the night, they were able to please all of the members and alumni who had the chance to witness their awesome Variety Show.
Formal Interview and Final Rites Towards the end of the semester, the batch of applicants were required to take the Constitution Quiz and Formal Interview in order to test their knowledge and dedication to push through with the application. Now she is flexible as energy, and radiant as the sun She reeks of self-esteem, her wits matched by none She lives fully, as though tomorrow shan’t exist She flies with wings even the night winds can’t resist She seeks the truth, and questions if it’s true She’s careful not to bite off more than she can chew Her eloquence defies ignorance; her will defies pain She stands in the wake of war when only blood and grief remain She’s cunning and skeptical, for deception is a game In which reality isn’t real, and on her throne she’ll reign...
He used to be empty, and though his life was good Achieve some greater happiness he knew he still could Once he sat in a corner, his blue mood turned a lighter shade Since then was left to ponder about the meaning his life made
She is.
Felt how it feels to live inspired From then, much has transpired...
I am, like her, neither nothing, nor everything But I am definitely something, Something awesome... I am an aggregate. ~
Now he is full of love, of rhythm and of rhyme Utterly vague expressions give essence to each line Randomly admiring the unnoticed, he finds joy in birds In mugs of coffee, a friend and a few good words He is relentless in pursuit, never letting plans go askew That finely meticulous touch, like a lone drop of dew Believing time always flies, he refuses to waste a minute Knowing pressure’s ways too well, he doesn’t crumble beneath it
20 SIEVE
I am, like him, better than I used to be Finally, I am, because something happened to me Something, from which... My best will emanate.

Bakit ba kasi ikaw?
