Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we look back on another extraordinary year of artistic achievement and community impact, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable support of the 2024 UPAF Community Campaign, which made these successes possible. Since stepping into the role of President & CEO in September, I have clearly seen the resilience, dedication and generosity that propelled the Campaign. It is an honor to take on this leadership role at UPAF. I am inspired by the leaders who have come before me, and I am intent on collaborating across sectors to ensure that UPAF’s legacy of strength and impact continues.
The past year presented unique challenges, including a transitional period during which UPAF was without a CEO for six months. This time of change could have been a hurdle, but instead, it became a testament to the strength of UPAF’s mission and the extraordinary commitment of our Board of Directors, led by Board Chair Scott Beightol, the UPAF staff and our many volunteers. Their unwavering commitment ensured that our work continued seamlessly, enabling us to fulfill our promises to our Members and to the community. Their guidance and tenacity are deeply appreciated, and I am grateful for their leadership.
Throughout 2024, UPAF was proud to raise $9.2 million to support our Members and Affiliates. These dollars empower them to create art that inspires, educates and uplifts. They not only keep the doors open and the stages lit but also allow for exceptional arts education programs and outreach efforts. Your contributions ensure that these organizations can impact more lives and broaden access to the performing arts for everyone, regardless of circumstances.
As we look to the future, I am filled with optimism. Together, we will continue to champion the performing arts as essential to our community’s vibrancy and well-being. On behalf of everyone at UPAF, thank you for your steadfast support and belief in our mission.

The UPAF Ride for the Arts, presented by Miller Lite, remains as UPAF’s signature fundraising event, bringing community members together to enjoy a morning on the lakefront while supporting the arts in the community.
THE 44TH ANNUAL UPAF RIDE FOR THE ARTS, presented by Miller Lite, saw:
3,220 Participants $461,230 Raised
UPAF has allocated a total of $7,109,000 for the 2024-25 performance season to its Members and Affiliates. UPAF’s allocation is determined by a panel of UPAF Board representatives from various industries.
UPAF allocates funds to non-member performing arts organizations through the UPAF Affiliate Program, an annual grant program. Organizations that meet the eligibility requirements may apply for UPAF Affiliate status and applications are reviewed to identify those organizations that will reflect the performing arts
excellence serving Southeastern Wisconsin. Organizations receiving UPAF funding through this program are required to use the dollars during the fiscal year for which the funds are granted. Affiliates can earn additional funding for their participation in and support of the annual UPAF Campaign.
SUPPORT OF UPAF does more than ensure entertainment excellence – it makes our community a better place to live, work and play. From setting up young people for success through arts education to ensuring all have access to the arts, the UPAF Community Impact Programs and Resonate Grant Program builds a stronger Southeastern Wisconsin through the arts.
THROUGH OVER 10,000 HOURS OF IN-CLASSROOM AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Arts education plays a critical role in fostering creativity and self-expression in students. They develop essential skills like communication, teamwork and problem-solving which will be transferable to all areas of their lives. They ensure a well-rounded education that empowers future generations to be more innovative, empathetic and more culturally aware.
presented by We Energies Foundation,
delivers high-quality arts education programming, preparing students with the tools to be successful in work and life. Bright Minds supports UPAF Member programs that lead the nation in quality and innovation.
In 2024, $277,200 was designated to UPAF Members through UPAF Bright Minds.
Milwaukee Ballet’s Community Engagement program, Relevé, has been providing accessible ballet education and training for students of three Milwaukee Public School partners for many years. This program addresses the misperception that ballet is only for the lucky few and changes the narrative to ensure that dance is for everyone.
Relevé classes are free and held during the school day for 2nd -4th graders from October to May. Each year, Relevé serves 225 students.
Beyond the Relevé years, dedicated students also have the opportunity to receive generous scholarships to Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy (MBSA). As MBSA students, they perform in professionally staged School & Academy showcases and are eligible to audition for student casts of productions like The Nutcracker, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, dancing alongside Milwaukee Ballet’s Company of world-class artists.
THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO FOSTER INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES, ENSURING THAT PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND ABILITIES CAN ENGAGE WITH CULTURAL EXPERIENCES
By making the arts more accessible, we promote equity and offer everyone the opportunity to benefit from the educational and emotional value of the arts.
presented by MGIC
UPAF believes that the power of the performing arts should be accessible to all who wish to experience them. Kasey’s Fund, presented by MGIC, was created to ensure the accessibility of the arts by eliminating barriers imposed by disability, special needs, geography and other physical and mental considerations.
In 2024, $60,000 was designated to UPAF Members through Kasey’s Fund.
The 2023-24 season saw the third annual Sensory Friendly Concert with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Over 280 reduced-cost tickets were sold and nearly 300 complimentary tickets were shared for this year’s performance, Orchestra
Concert goers arrived early to enjoy the many preconcert activities offered at the Bradley Symphony Center prior to the performance, including a new mini-resource fair which hosted eight local organizations sharing information about their sensory inclusive programming with attendees.
MSO staff, ambassadors and volunteers then directed attendees into Allen-Bradley Hall to ensure a comfortable transition to the in-hall concert experience, which featured on-stage actors guiding the audience through the performance and engagement with Assistant Conductor Ryan Tani and MSO musicians. Additionally, audiences were supported with subtitles and visual cues displayed on a large screen and ASL interpreters. Audiences had access to resources and accommodations available year-round at all MSO performances such as noise-cancelling headphones, fidgets, quiet spaces and more.
