True to our Christian heritage, we prepare students from diverse religious, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds to live life fully.

Dear Friends,

Students who attend University of the Ozarks have the opportunity to GROW and DISCOVER . Our goal is to transform lives, helping students find their passion and excel wherever they go. Providing scholarships is a major step in achieving success for students and ultimately progressing our world.

Alumni and friends have been very generous over the years by establishing privately funded endowments that will benefit students’ lives forever. During the 2021-22 year, Ozarks has awarded approximately $1,506,675 from endowed scholarships.

I hope you take a moment to read about those who answered the call to help others, many of whom received the same type of assistance during their years of study. A.C. and Wendy Tygart Endowed Scholarship

Alvin C. Broyles Memorial Scholarship

For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

This endowment was established in 2000 by gifts in memory of Dr. Broyles, a 1941 graduate of Ozarks. A 37-year employee of Exxon Oil Company, he retired as a senior research associate. He was awarded an honorary doctor of science degree from University of the Ozarks in 1979, and was a lifetime member of the University of the Ozarks Board of Trustees, where he served as chairman in 1987-88. Scholarship is awarded to a senior student with high moral standards for tuition for the student’s last two semesters.

Armeda and Richard "Dick" Holmes Scholarship

Established in 2021 in honor of Naomi Atkinson Newman and Anna J Atkinson Wagganer for their commitment to the University of the Ozarks. The scholarship will provide scholarship funds to deserving student(s) in need of financial assistance.

Provides scholarships for promising students with financial need. First preference given to children of military service personnel, in active service or honorably discharged.

Established in March 1984 by the church when Rev. S. A. Anderson was pastor.

Established in 2014 by Armeda Holmes in honor of her marriage to Richard Holmes, which was officially established while at U of O in 1953. Their success was built on Christianity and education acting as a foundation throughout their lives, and their teaching careers as a continuation of their legacy in education. Provides scholarships for promising students with a recognized financial need.

Bentonville First Presbyterian Scholarship

Blakemore Family Scholarship

The endowment was established by First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville, Ark., in 1991.

Established in 1997 by Dr. Robbie Blakemore and Mrs. Lorena Blakemore Fraley ’39 to honor and memorialize their parents, Rev. Loren E. Blakemore 1907 and Glena Adkins Blakemore 1907, and to commemorate their children, Nelle ’34, James ’35, Thomas ’36, Lorena ’39, Glenn ’49 and Robbie. It is given to a junior or senior in any field of study. Student should show promise of success in their chosen field of study and demonstrate academic achievement and/or financial need.

Bush-Dobbins Christian Service Scholarship

Established in 1997 by Wallace ’40 and Carolyn Bush ’42 Dobbins and grandson David Dobbins in memory of Lee and Lou Bush. This scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to a student seeking a career in Christian service: ministry, Christian education, youth ministry, sacred music, missions, or other church-related activity.

C. Gene Stephenson Endowed Scholarship

Carolyn Dobbins Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1991 as recognition of Dr. Stephenson’s appointment as the new president of U of O. Established by W.W. Stephenson Petroleum of Oklahoma.

Established in 2006 by Carolyn Bush ’42 Dobbins and husband Wallace ’40. To provide scholarships to students with financial need who demonstrate leadership skills in high school and in their community. First preference will be given to students planning a career in communication or as a librarian.

Champlin Grandchildren Endowed Scholarship

A long-time friend of Mrs. Helen R. Walton, Mrs. Champlin of Enid, Okla., established this scholarship to positively assist young lives, honor family and praise the Lord. Given to a dedicated student with high moral standards.

Christina Alter Scholarship

Class of 1935 Endowed Scholarship

Established in 1993 from the Trust of Nadine Baum. They were friends of Sam and Helen Walton and lifelong philanthropists in Arkansas. Requires ACT of 27 or SAT of 1210.

Established by a gift from Marion T. Stephens in 1988. Awarded for the purpose of promoting academics.

To be awarded to students with limited financial resources who are contributing financially to the expense of his/her education and with at least a “C average.”

Mrs. Charlotte Newcombe was given stock from her father that helped her grow her personal wealth. A foundation in her name was formed upon her death, which provided funds to numerous Presbyterian-related charities. These scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of need, from rural or inner-city.

Established in 2011 by Christina Alter ’33. She attended two years while her husband worked in the coal mines in Hartman. She considers her time at Ozarks as the happiest times in her life.

Established in 1979 by classmates of 1935 graduates Philip B. Phillips and Arthur Nichols, the scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior who has a 2.5 GPA and who demonstrates financial need and high character.

Donaldson Turner Endowed Scholarship

Established in January 1984 from the estate of Cleon M. Brown. Given to a Christian student, with high academic achievement.

Established in 1966 through the will of Margaret Talton. Her father, Harlon Conger, also contributed to the scholarship. Awarded based on merit and demonstrated financial need.

Established in 2014 by Barbara Pearsall in memory of her husband, Don. Mrs. Pearsall wanted to help students in transition regarding their majors. Awarded to students in transition who have completed at least 45 semester hours with a GPA of at least 2.8.

Retired Col. Claude Donaldson ’60 established this scholarship in memory of his wife, Helen Turner Donaldson, and her mother, Mary Opal Turner. He met his wife while in the Army in Arkansas. The scholarship is awarded to students with evidence of need, who demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership skills. First preference is given to students who are graduates of Scranton (Ark.) High School.

Edgar WoolseyF.D.Goza Endowed Masonic Scholarship

Established by Ed and LaDonna Wilkinson in 2016, it provides scholarships to students who have demonstrated need, with preference given to members of the Presbyterian Church.

Established in 2021 from the Estate of Ed Dell Wortz to assist students with financial need.

In 1990, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Arkansas Scottish Rite Foundations contributed funds to establish the Edgar Woolsey-F.D. Goza Endowed Masonic Scholarship. Student shall be a Mason or masonic related. Awarded to students with good moral character and demonstrated need. If no masons are available, the money may be awarded to another needy student.

Edsel Ford was the son of automobile maker Henry Ford. Given to students based on financial need.

Established in February of 1981 by a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Parker in memory of Thomas’ father. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Friends of Ozarks since the early 1950s through the Presbyterian Church in Ponca City, Okla., Eugene and Vera Pfeffer were friends of Sam and Helen Walton. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 1982 by his daughter, Sue Ferree, for Eugene Kraus ’31. Awarded to students with financial need.

Everette Lingle ’38 played football at Ozarks and attended on scholarships. He knew the importance of scholarships. He owned an independent oil operation in Houston. The scholarship was established in 2006 from his estate.

Harmony Presbyterian Church Scholarship

Founded by a grandson in memory of the first president of Cane Hill College. Scholarship was established with a trust in 1976 and funded upon his death in 1996.

Established in 1987 by Milford and Betty Park in memory of his late brother, Francis DeRonald Park. The basis of the award is Christian character and good citizenship and financial need.

Established in 1990 from the trust of Frank P. Collins.

Established in December 1990 by various Board of Trustee members in honor of Dr. Ehren’s retirement as U of O President. Awarded to students with demonstrated financial need.

For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Named in honor of 1975 Ozarks graduate George Sherlock, a mathematics major. Awarded to student who shows exceptional service to the University and who is active in campus life.

Established in September 2018 by The Rev. Tracy Julian Williams, a former pastor of Harmony Presbyterian Church. The scholarship will provide funds to student(s) with a demonstrated financial need; first preference given to a student from the Harmony community; second preference to a resident of Johnson County; and who has dedicated their life to Christian service.

Joe Hoing Scholarship

Established in 1999 by local businessman and his wife to support Ozarks. They were both very active in the Clarksville community, including Ozarks. Awarded to students based on their financial need and academic performance. This scholarship shall follow students throughout their stay at Ozarks providing they meet the minimum requirements.

Established in 2013 by Mrs. Francis Wilson to memorialize Henry Townsend Wilson, Jr. and to commemorate his special relationship to his brother, Tommy Wilson. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established by Naomi Atkinson Newman in 2013 in honor of her parents.

Established in 1985, it is awarded to full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 1989 from the trust of Mr. Raymond Harber to honor his wife. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 2020 by the estate of J.L. and Cora E. Adkins.

Established by members of the Board of Trustees to honor Dr. Patterson, who served as business manager of the University from 1943-1982. For fulltime students with financial need.

Established in 1999 by gifts from friends of Dr. Patterson to celebrate his 25 years as a medical doctor. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

James Bell ’37 taught and recruited for Ozarks from 1947-1950. This scholarship was established by his estate in 2004.

Established in 1996 through the trust of James T. Rhea. He supported Presbyterian related charities. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

The Joe Hoing Scholarship Endowment was established in 2021 by family, friends and alumni who knew and loved Joe Hoing. The long-time U of O Dean of Students had a positive and enduring impact on hundreds of former Ozarks students, faculty and staff in his 30-year career as an administrator and instructor at Ozarks. A two-time recipient of the Broyles Outstanding Staff Award, Hoing provided a daily dose of encouragement, support, comfort, advice and friendship to students and colleagues alike on campus. His sense of humor, kindness and good nature will forever be remembered by those who knew him. The former All-American football player was truly the Big Man on Campus. The scholarship(s) will be awarded to students who have completed at least 30 earned credits with a 3.0 GPA or higher. The recipient should be active in Student Life and be involved with Community Service in Johnson County, Arkansas.

Mr. Field’s nephew attended Ozarks in the 1960s and was so pleased with his education that he established a scholarship. Given to a student based on need and scholastic ability.

Established in 1993 by Philip Phillips. He was proud and grateful for the opportunities Ozarks gave him. Scholarship to be awarded to a junior student to assist with expenses in the fourth year of school.

Established in 1978.

Established in 1983 by Wallace ’40 and Carolyn Bush ’42 Dobbins in memory of her mother and father. “Mom and Pop” Bush always opened their home to Ozarks students with food, a place to stay and encouragement in the 1930s. Awarded based on Christian character, good citizenship, financial need, and academic endeavor.

R. K. Black established the Olive M. Black Scholarship in 1979 in memory of his mother. Then in 1985, he established the Lorraine S. Black Scholarship in memory of his late wife. The two funds were combined. R.K. was an Oklahoma business leader and a generous friend to Ozarks. This scholarship is given on the basis of worthiness and need to a student who shows excellent promise of future development and who has high moral standards.

Established in 1984 by former Board of Trustees member Ms. Ed Dell Wortz in memory of her mother and father. Ed Dell was a strong advocate for the University for many years. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 1993 by Pete and Elizabeth Herlin in memory of their son. The choir toured in their area and they had students stay with them. They enjoyed and remembered that with such fondness. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 1982 by corporate office and awarded to a full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 2021 by R. Scott Placek to provide scholarship funds with first preference to graduates of United States high schools who received English Language Learner (ELL)services in middle school or high school. If no eligible recipient, then a student from Texas with a recognized financial need. R. Scott Placek is the managing partner of Arnold, Placek & Foerster, PC, an Austin, Texas insurance and commercial litigation law firm that Scott cofounded in 2003. A graduate of Auburn University (B.S. 1987), and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. 1992), Scott’s connection with University of the Ozarks began in 1996 as its first soccer coach, starting both the men’s and women’s soccer programs. Combining a teaching appointment in the College of Business, Government and Communications with his coaching, Scott was a true proponent of the concept of the studentathlete, and his teams regularly included many academic scholarship recipients and Academic All-Conference performers. After working to have a women’s coach hired so that each team had a head coach to focus full attention on the team, Scott guided the men’s team to their first winning record in 1998, finishing 10-8-2 with a team composed only of freshmen and sophomores. Following the 1998 season, Scott returned to the practice of law in Texas, continuing to coach in youth select programs and serve in leadership roles in various local and national soccer organizations.

Established in 1993 with a gift from the Roller family. For full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Established in 2003 by Scevoy ’37 and Carol Barnes Joyce ’56. First consideration for this scholarship will be given to Ozarks student(s) who are graduates of Mansfield (Ark.) High School.

Established to honor two members of the Class of 1943. Bruce served as alumni class secretary from 1978-2006 and was recognized in 1993 with the Distinguished Alumni Award. Together they received the 2006 Legacy Award. Awarded to promising students with a recognized financial need.

Established September 1993 through the estate of Edith Brunk Vaughan to grant scholarships to worthy students with need.

Established in 1981 by Walmart to honor the founding of Arkansas’ first institute of higher education.

Established through an estate gift by Hazel Johnson in memory of her husband. The Johnson County residents wanted to help students with their education. Awarded to deserving students on the basis of personal and academic potential and need.

Established in 2003 by the grandchildren of Harold ’34 and Pearl ’35 Whitson in their memory. Longtime residents and supporters of Ozarks. Given to students with a financial need.

Established in memory of those named in the scholarship by a trust. Awarded to sophomores, juniors and seniors with a 3.0 or above GPA and who are in good standing with the University.

William & Ruth Harlan Sissel Memorial Scholarship

Winslow & Dorothy Drummond Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This endowment was established by Mrs. Hurie in memory of her husband, the Rev. Dr. Wiley Lin Hurie, who served as president of Ozarks from 1923-1949. Dr. Hurie was described as “spiritual, studious, persevering, conscientious and earnest, and deserving of success.” This award is given to a dedicated student with high moral standards. This award recognizes the most outstanding graduating senior, and the recipient is selected by the faculty. This is the highest award an Ozarks student may receive.

Established in 2010 by William and Ruth Sissel.

Established in 2007 by William and Jane Holder, both faithful Ozarks alumni. Awarded to students with evidence of need and who demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership.

This scholarship was given in memory of Mrs. Dorothy Drummond, wife of Dr. Winslow S. Drummond, who served as president of Ozarks from 19531960. Awarded to a dedicated student with high moral standards.

Ada Parks Mills Endowed Scholarship

This endowment was established in memory of Ada Parks Mills ’33 by her family. Ada and her husband, Joe, founded and operated several businesses in Arkansas, Kansas and Texas. They were the first couple married in Raymond Munger Memorial Chapel in 1933. Awarded to business administration students.

Established by J.P. Boone on Oct. 23, 1987, to honor his dear friends Bob and Lil Prillaman. Awarded to a student with high moral character and who is a marketing major.

This scholarship was established by Susan Crowder in honor of Ethel Powell’s work in various areas of the campus. Ethel Powell was a 1979 graduate of Ozarks. This award is for a student who has shown facility in oral communication.

Established by J.P. Boone in honor of his dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. H. Lee Thrash, III. Awarded to a business administration major who displays high moral character and financial need.

Established in memory of Dr. James W. Perrett, a former chairman of the Division of Business Administration at Ozarks. To be awarded to a business student.

Established with a gift on August 25, 1983 by Davis and Geck of Wayne, N.J., for students studying sales and marketing. In memory of the 1964 Ozarks graduate.

Established by Kenneth ’63, who played football at Ozarks, and Bernice, who took classes at the college while working in the Business Office for J.T. Patterson. Scholarship is for business majors who have demonstrated financial need.

Established in 2007 by former U of O Board of Trustees member Bill Rail and his wife, Maxine, in memory of their son Michael. Awarded to students majoring in business.

Juanita Vaughn established the scholarship in 1994 in memory of her husband, Paul, a 1952 Ozarks business graduate. To be given to a student majoring in business.

This scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of Phil Taylor by his wife, Joanne, and son, Philip. A lifelong Johnson County resident and local business man, Phil was a 1954 alumnus who died in 2002. Preference is given to students who have accumulated 20 or more credit hours, with a 2.5 GPA.

Established by the children of R.K. Black in his memory in 2003. To provide scholarships to students on the basis of financial need and/or academic merit who are majoring in business.

Established in 2005 by alumnus and Board of Trustees member David Rawhouser ’69 and his wife, Jill, to honor their parents. Awarded to business students with financial need.

Established in January 2017 by Ray Hobbs ’77 in appreciation for the excellent way the business department and Dr. James Perrett worked with him to get a great start with a successful career. This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in business administration.

Raymond and Lorena Bean Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2006 in memory of Raymond and Lorena Bean by their children, Arvid Bean, Edward Bean, Rena Howe and Loyce Ann Taylor. Awarded to an entering freshmen who demonstrates strong academic performance and leadership skills in high school and in their community. This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a degree in business or business education.

The scholarship will be provided to students at University of the Ozarks with first preference being students from Johnson County, Arkansas, majoring or minoring in teacher education, or seeking non-traditional certification to teach. The scholarship is for students who have demonstrated financial need and are within 24 months of graduation/teacher-certification.

Established in 1974 in honor of former U of O President Dr. Don Davis by students of Ozarks. Given on the basis of worthiness and need to a student who shows excellent promise of future development in teacher education.

This endowment was established in honor of Era King, a lifelong teacher, by Jay Blackburn, a 1931 graduate of Ozarks. This scholarship award is given to a future teacher who shows promise in the field of teaching and commitment to the next generation of students.

Ethel P. Ralston established this scholarship in 2001 in memory of her husband, F. Willard Ralston, a 1929 chemistry graduate from Ozarks. To be awarded to a student or students majoring in physical education or certifying in secondary education.

Established through the estate of Helen Frances Brown in August 1999. Given to a student in the Education Department.

The Rev. Dr. Jimmie and Mrs. Aileen Thames established this endowment to honor Jimmie’s first wife, Laura Anne, who passed away in 1979. The Rev. Thames was a retired Presbyterian minister and a 1953 graduate of Ozarks. Three of his children also graduated from Ozarks. Awarded to a sophomore or junior psychology or education major.

John E. and Joyzelle Bock Memorial Scholarship

John E. Bock ’49 was a PE and education major at Ozarks. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received his masters degree in education administration and spent 35 years as an educator, principal and superintendent. He passed away on Nov. 18, 2002. Joyzelle Bock passed away in 1991. To be awarded to a junior or senior teacher education major who shows promise and commitment as a future classroom teacher and demonstrates exemplary character through involvement in University Chapel programs or local congregation.

Established in 1990 by the family of Clarksville native Sarah Alston Garside. Awarded to a female student who maintains at least a 3.0 GPA and is of good character.

Established by Diana McCormick and her mother, Evelyn H. Altes. Diana graduated from Ozarks in 1965 and was employed as a JLC coordinator from 1980 until her retirement in 2010. This scholarship is awarded to an upperclass fine arts student.

Carroll was a Clarksville native and considered himself a serious amateur photographer. Also a sculptor in metal and cement. The Rowbotham family has been associated with Ozarks for many generations. Awarded to juniors or seniors with evidence of financial need who are majoring in the visual arts.

Established as a memorial by his wife, Dorothy Angell, Dr. Charles Angell was head of the Humanities Department from 1962-1979. He was a much loved professor of English and Religion at Ozarks. This scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in humanities or in a fine artsrelated major.

Established as a gift from Dr. C. Gene Stephenson for Lynda A. Stephenson during the holiday season of December 2018. Dr. Stephenson served as Chief Operating Officer from January 1990 to January 1991. The Stephenson’s led the campus as President and First Lady from January 1991 through January 1997, culminating with the construction of two new buildings and three remodeled buildings in the $19 million Bridging the Century Campaign. The scholarship will provide support to a deserving student, first preference being an English major.

Established in 1987 by the Laureate Kappa PL 1089 chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and University Players in honor of Susie Maude Pittman, who led the Ozarks theatre program for more than 30 years.

Established by family, friends and alumni who knew and loved Taz. Taz attended Ozarks and was set to graduate in May of 2015, however passed away prior to his graduation date. Because he had earned credits needed to complete his degree before passing, he was recognized for this achievement and graduated posthumously. He was an active student on campus with many talents in art, athletics and academia. To provide scholarship(s) for students in need with preference given to students engaged in art and further that if a lineal descendant of Theodore “Taz” Roosevelt Beard IV attends University of the Ozarks, then they shall be given first preference as to the awarding of the scholarship(s).

Established from gifts in memory of Sarah Carlin Graves, a JLC student who had a severe learning disability which prevented her from attaining academic success in school, according to her parents, James and Karen Graves. However, once she enrolled in the Learning Center at Ozarks, she blossomed, earning a BA in Social Studies, getting accepted into graduate school and winning the love and respect of her fellow students and teachers. Sarah died in a car accident shortly after graduating from Ozarks in 1985. Awarded to students who use the services of the JLC.

This endowment was established in 2001 by Shelli Lamberson’s family and friends. Shelli worked as the school psychology intern in the JLC from 2000-2001. She had a deep compassion and genuine concern for the needs and well being of the students with whom she worked. Shelli died in a car accident on June 2, 2001. The scholarship is for students who use the services of the JLC.

This science award was established through a gift from Dr. J. Clyde Swartzwelder in 1987. The scholarship was named in memory of his wife, Tina, who was a 1944 graduate of Ozarks. Dr. Swartzwelder was a professor of medical parasitology at Louisiana State University. Awarded to a student in science.

The award was established in 1976 by Dr. Alvin C. Broyles and the Class of 1941 to honor Dr. Irving T. Beach, a professor of chemistry and chairman of the Chemistry Department at Ozarks from 1939-1960. Given to an outstanding junior science major.

Established in 2005 by Sarah C. Talley in memory of her late husband, John W. Talley ’43. Preference given to students with 30 or more credit hours and pursuing science or mathematics.

Created in 1992 by Daniel Hignight and the Presbyterian Church of Crossett, Ark., and friends, in memory of Marilyn Hudgens, who passed away in 2000. The scholarship is to encourage and assist students to become trained church musicians.

Established by the estate of May Katherine Baker in 2013. Recipients of this scholarship shall be residents of Arkansas who have graduated from an Arkansas high school. A cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 and a major in music required.

Established in 1979 by Mrs. Ernest C. Bateman of Ozark, Ark., in memory of Sula Kate Benson, who died in 1978. Awarded to a music major.

Established in memory of Dr. William E. Borland, an instructor of music at the University in the 1970s and 1980s who passed away in 1987. Awarded to a student having a strong academic, keyboard potential and financial need.

Doug Black Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2020 by members of the Board of Trustees, friends, alumni, and family who came together as one to create this endowment in recognition of Doug's leadership and love of Ozarks. His passion for, and work on behalf of, the University's' students is exemplary of the finest Ozarks tradition. Scholarships will be provided to students with demonstrated financial need, with preference given to students from southern Arkansas.

Established December 30, 1983 by a gift from the Elizabeth H. & Stanley E. Evans Foundation, and is to be awarded to a worthy student from the Fort Smith, Ark. area.

Established in 2020 by the estate of J.L. and Cora E. Adkins. The scholarship will be provided to students at University of the Ozarks with first preference being from the Counties of Dunklin, Stoddard and New Madrid, Missouri in pursue of a degree in education or fine arts.

Established in 1991 by Dr. & Mrs. Bobby Fincher to honor his parents, who were raised in Clarksville. Recipients must have graduated in the top quarter of their high school class from Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Texas no earlier than 17 months prior to the beginning of the fall term for which scholarship is sought; must plan to major in English, foreign language, history, math, or music; not have more than 15 hours from any college; & be a full-time student.

Established by alumnus George Pittenger in 2015 in memory of Martha Jo Pittenger, his loving and supportive mother. Awarded to promising students with a GPA between 2.5-3.0 from Dallas/Fort Worth area. Second preference is given to students who have a GPA between 2.5-3.0 from Texas.

Provides a scholarship to a student with first preference given to students from Ouachita County, Ark., and second preference to students from Boone County, Ark. Scholarship is good for up to four additional years as long as student remains in good academic standing and funds are available. If there are no students eligible from Ouachita or Boone counties, preference will be given to students majoring in business.

Established in 1991 from the James Hayden Moore estate of Van Buren, Ark. Awarded to needy, worthy and deserving students from Crawford and Franklin counties in Arkansas.

Established in 1993 by the Ozarks Arts and Craft Fair Association of the War Eagle Fair to honor three former Ozarks students: Bonnie Elaine Sutton, Fred L. Sutton and Dana Lynn Galyen Sutton. Scholarships are to be awarded to any full-time student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference is given to students Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Established in 1986, scholarship is awarded to students with a high school GPA of at least 3.5 and show leadership potential. Preference given students from Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Arnold and Luella Langenberg lived in Ftort Smith and he was a Presbyterian minister. Provides scholarships for Presbyterian students who will be entering a church vocation.

Ayleen Ragland graduated Ozarks in 1931 with a major in English. She spent 46 years as an educator in Arkansas before passing away in 2001. Awarded to a sophomore who maintains 3.2 cum GPA and demonstrates leadership qualities at the University level. The student must be an active in a Christian student organization or in a local church.

Established in 1979 by the Cimarron Presbytery, it is awarded to a student in good standing with financial need and from one of the 16 Presbyteries.

To provide scholarships to students in need of financial assistance as determined by the financial aid office. First preference given to the children of Presbyterian Ministers and serving within the bounds of the Presbytery of Arkansas. Second preference to presbyterian students who are active in their home churches.

Established in memory of Dr. Tom B. Wilson, a 1942 Ozarks graduate who served as a Presbytery minister in Arkansas. He also taught philosophy and humanities at Ozarks. Awarded to a Presbyterian student in good academic standing.

Established in 1986 by Dr. George Hunt Sr., and family in the memory of his son, Dr. George Hunt, Jr. Awarded to students who are studying in the field of Christian education or interested in service and who have a learning disability.

Named in honor of Harry Bartlett, it is awarded to a student who is studying for the ministry.

The Rev. Lewis R. Rogers graduated from Ozarks in 1934. He served Presbyterian churches in Oklahoma and Missouri for 54 years. His life reflected his faith in Christ and he served the Presbyterian Church with love and grace. Awarded to students with at least a 2.50 GPA and who are candidates for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church.

First preference given to pre-ministerial student(s) or student(s) with emphasis in religious studies. Second preference to first generation college student(s), and if none meets that criterion, the Office of Financial Aid will award the scholarship to student(s) in good standing with the University with demonstrated financial need.

Scholarship is to be awarded to students with financial need, who excel academically and show leadership potential.

Established by former Ozarks Art Professor Blaine Caldwell and his wife, Cathy, this scholarship is awarded to students who are juniors or seniors, have strong academic credentials, and who are pursuing a degree in art and have been accepted into the University’s teacher education program.

A foundation that is about serving those who are diligently working to assist those who are developing new ways of dealing with pressing and complex issues. Awarded to students utilizing services of the Jones Learning Center who demonstrate a financial need.

Supportive of nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and headquartered in Florida, The Chatlos Foundation’s areas of interest include bible colleges/ seminaries, religious causes, medical concerns, liberal arts colleges and social concerns. Scholarships are awarded to students with financial need.

The award is to be given for the most interesting and well-written essay on the topic of his/her choice. Annual gift is received from the Erwin T. Koch Charitable Trust.

Awarded to student majoring in art with first preference given to an art major taking a psychology class or classes or with a minor in psychology. Evidence of need also preferred.

Established in December 2017 by Karenree and Ron Jones in memory of their daughter, Debra Ann Perry. To provide a music scholarship, with first preference being given to a student who has demonstrated financial need and is active in a choral group.

Awarded to worthy sophomores, juniors, and seniors, students pursuing degrees in health, and Jones Learning Center students. The foundation began in 1987 and funds commitment to excellence scholarships.

A foundation that warmly supports education and other charitable causes. One of the founders had a child with a learning disability and became supportive of the Jones Learning Center. Today, the scholarships are awarded to students with a financial need.

Awarded annually to students in need of financial assistance for tuition-only scholarships. In order of preference, the award will be given to students who are children of ordained Presbyterian Ministers of the Word and Sacrament; active members of a Presbyterian Church; or to students with financial need.

The donor will choose the recipient from application forms gathered by the Financial Aid Office. Preference will be given to graduates of a high school in Johnson County, Arkansas, or someone born in Johnson County, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

In honor and in memory of former corporation manager for Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative Corporation, this scholarship is awarded to one or more students from their local utility service area in the Arkansas River Valley.
