The Science Park was opened in 1995 and has steadily developed since then to the impressive location you see here today. Currently home to over 90 businesses and more than 700 employees, the Science Park has expanded further with the creation of the new Science Centre; with a focus on aerospace, automotive, construction and life science sectors and their supply-chains.

The Site

The University of Wolverhampton Science Park (UoWSP) is located on a prime site approximately a mile north of Wolverhampton city centre and a few minutes away from i54 Enterprise Zone; it benefits from easy access to the UK motorway network, intercity rail services and several regional airports. After nearly 30 years of progression and expansion, the site now comprises over 12,000 square metres of space for companies in all stages of development and growth. There are presently four distinct buildings on the site plus a business incubation centre. Today, UoWSP is home to over 90 businesses working in a broad range of technological and creative disciplines including software development, environmental management, engineering design and consultancy, photography and videography, graphics, website design, water technology, environmental research, bespoke training and education, healthcare and business support services. The Technology Centre offers a range of accommodation for technology-based businesses and is the main conference venue, housing several meeting rooms of varying sizes and 180 seat, fully raked auditorium all with dedicated AV equipment. Our manned reception is the ideal venue to meet and greet your guests and has ample breakout areas for a meeting or just to sit and catch-up with colleagues.

The Creative Industries Centre offers a range of accommodation space for creative and digital-focused businesses and also houses SPARK Business Incubation Centre, offering subsidised office accommodation and specialist start-up support to new start businesses in the creative, digital and technology sectors.

The Science Centre is a unique combination of laboratory, workshop and office space, specialising in sectors supporting the local Smart Specialisation agenda. The building has been short-listed for several industry and national awards since its opening, winning LABC West Midlands ‘Best Large Commercial Project’ award. The Development Centre is the headquarters of Nant Ltd, water safety specialists and also houses the University of Wolverhampton’s Digital Research Laboratory and will accommodate 10 dedicated stateof-the art research labs... more news on this exciting project will follow shortly.

This is the only provision of its type in the Black Country. Business Incubation SPARK - a specialist business incubator facility SPARK Business Incubation Hub was opened in 2004 with European Regional Development Funds and Wolverhampton Science Park Limited funding to provide 15,000 sqft of subsidised office space and support for start-up companies in the Creative Industries Sectors within the Wolverhampton and West Midlands area. The aim being to raise the technology profile of the area with increased focus on engineering, creative media and ICT. Based at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, SPARK helps entrepreneurs that are creative or use technology in innovative ways to launch, develop and grow their businesses. This supportive eco-system is why incubated companies are far more likely to survive than those that go it alone. Business Incubation SPEED - on a mission to support business

The SPEED project, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), seeks to enable individuals access support on starting a business or enterprise. Further support is also offered to newly created and established SME’s to develop their businesses within the Black Country and the Marches local economies.

SPEED Services Include: Starting a new business The project can help you register your business with HMRC, offer the chance to register your business at the Wolverhampton Science Park. Already Trading If you haven’t registered your business or registered in the last 12 months, the SPEED project can assist you with the use of match-funded grants. Grants & Funding SPEED can offer you a match-funded grant where we reimburse half the cost of your purchases. This will be subject to eligibility. Events & Workshops Fully funded specialist workshops will be offered to all beneficiaries on the project. Business Consultancy 6 hours of fully funded business consultancy offered by a range of experienced business consultants to develop and grow your business. Office & Co-working Space You will be allocated your own desk(s) and have full access to office resources free of charge for up to 12 months. The Rosalind Franklin Science Centre in the city centre, provides a state-of-the-art environment for laboratory sciences including extensive facilities for molecular biology; cancer and toxicology research; microbiology and fermentation technology; analytical studies and chemistry; pharmaceutical science including drug delivery research; experimental pharmacology; and metabolic and immunological research. There are also extensive green housing facilities for crop research activities. Extensive development across our campuses includes the University of Wolverhampton Business School’s Lord Swraj Paul building. Its Caparo Executive Education Suite is dedicated to training the region’s business leaders and complemented by the Executive Education programme, designed to deliver immediate results for organisations and individuals, whatever stage in their career. Investment has been made in manufacturing engineering at the Telford Innovation Campus, whilst the development of the Centre for Construction Excellence at the former Springfield Brewery site in Wolverhampton will act as a catalyst for economic and social regeneration of the region extending construction and built environment expertise nationally and internationally. The University of Wolverhampton is also part of a network of global FabLabs and is equipped with a range of prototyping and digital manufacturing technologies to inspire entrepreneurial activity. Viaduct View outlet based in the Creative Industries Centre offers a range of lunch items. There’s soup and a roll on the menu for lunch, as well as sandwiches, hot or cold pasties and snacks, with a choice of Hand-crafted beverages from the Starbucks TM range. Lockside Cafe in the Technology Centre also has the offer of a different hot dish available each lunchtime, including a vegetarian option - take a look at the menu board for the dish of the day being served in your cafe.
